Maya's fingers trembled as she turned the next page in Aarav Sen's journal. The handwriting was frantic, desperate—like the final words of a man who had known too much.
Then, something fell from between the pages. A folded sheet of yellowed paper.
Aditya picked it up and unfolded it. The three of them leaned in, their eyes scanning the contents.
It was a list of names.
Dozens of them, written in neat, formal script. Next to each name was a date—the date of their adoption.
Maya's breath hitched as her eyes moved down the list.
And then, she saw it.
Maya Verma – Adopted on July 14
She staggered back, her vision blurring. "No… that can't be right."
Arjun grabbed the list from Aditya's hands and scanned it quickly. His face turned pale. "Maya, Aditya… your names are both here."
Maya's stomach twisted. She looked at Aditya, who stood frozen, his eyes locked on his own name. Aditya Khanna – Adopted on August 3.
"This… this isn't possible," Aditya whispered. "I was never told I was adopted."
Maya's heart pounded. "Neither was I."
Her mind was spinning. If she had been adopted from this orphanage, why had her parents never told her?
Then, another horrifying realization struck her.
She scanned the list again.
The names of every single person who had ever had visions… they were all here.
Arjun noticed it too. "Maya… everyone who was having these dreams… they were adopted from this place."
A suffocating silence filled the room.
Maya swallowed hard. "What if… what if the dreams started because of something that happened to us here? What if this isn't just a coincidence?"
Aditya clenched his jaw. "Then we need to find out what happened to us before we were adopted."
Maya stared at the list, her own name feeling like a ghost staring back at her.
Somewhere in this orphanage, the truth was waiting.
And they were running out of time.
