Maya's vision blurred, her knees buckling beneath her as the weight of the truth crashed down on her. Before she could hit the cold, hard floor, strong arms caught her.
Arjun.
His grip was firm yet gentle, his warmth anchoring her to reality. "Maya!" His voice was filled with concern, his hands tightening around her shoulders as she trembled.
Her breath came in short, uneven gasps. The room spun. The lies, the betrayals—it was too much. She had spent her life chasing shadows, trying to understand who she was, only to find out she had been nothing more than an experiment.
"Maya, look at me," Arjun said softly, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "Breathe."
She clenched her fists against his chest, trying to push herself upright, but her body felt drained of all strength. "It's all been a lie…" her voice barely above a whisper.
"I know," he said, his voice filled with quiet rage. Not at her, but at them—at Dr. Varman, Dr. Kael, Aditya—everyone who had twisted her life into something unrecognizable.
She gritted her teeth, trying to fight the tears. "My parents… they were real, right? They weren't part of this?"
Arjun nodded, his fingers lightly tracing soothing circles on her back. "They were real, Maya. And they loved you."
The words cracked something inside her. A sob escaped her lips, and she clutched onto Arjun's shirt, holding on as if he was the only thing keeping her from falling deeper into the abyss.
He let her. He didn't rush her, didn't tell her to pull herself together. He just held her.
