Three Musketeers

Ark frowned while staring up at the ceiling.

Who could be disturbing him at such an hour? He sluggishly stood up and glared at the door as though it was his natural enemy.

'And it's so far away…'

He had originally wanted to sleep a little to calm his head. All that running and thinking had taken its toll on him and now all he wanted to do was sleep.

He finally rose from the bed and walked up to the door, he opened it slightly but there was no one there.

Ark peeked out of the room. The hallways were barren.

'A prank?'

He shut the door and turn back to face the room when—

"Woah!"

Ark stumbled back, placing his back firmly to the door.

'What the heck?'

For whatever reason Ark felt he had felt this way far too many times today. It was just day one and yet—

'What are three girls doing in my room?'

Sitting on his bed, her legs dangling in the air was a girl with dark purple hair and colourless eyes.

Actually, it was not that her eyes had no colour, it was actually silver but it was so clear that it practically reflected the world around her.

She was observing the room with a slightly amused expression.

Standing in the center of the room were the other two girls. One with dark red hair and clear red eyes and the other with white… or rather milk coloured hair and eyes.

The one quality they all shared was how clear their eyes looked, far sharper than that of any human.

Ark also noticed that they were wearing clothing that tilted towards medieval style but slightly more sophisticated.

Which his back still to the wall Ark said:

"Hello?"

They completely ignored him, in fact it was as though they didn't even notice his presence.

"How many days do we have left?" Silver asked the two girls.

Milk waved her hand in the air and a notepad appeared from thin air. She flipped through the pages.

"About three days."

"Is that so…" Silver then hopped off the bed with a measuring tape in hand. "Let's not waste any time then."

She began walking towards Ark.

The two girls were not far behind.

Red tilted her head slightly as she watched Ark.

"Is he really the one?" She appeared to disappear and reappear right in front of him, far too close for comfort. "He looks a little scrawny."

"Excuse me?" Ark said in a slightly annoyed voice.

He pushed himself from the wall.

The girls were strange, no doubt about it. They seemed like curse bearers from the powers they were showcasing but Ark did not care.

'What are they doing in my room? And without asking for permission either!'

He was about to speak when Silver held on to his chin and watched it with as much scrutiny as that of a jeweller observing their product.

"He's not half bad."

Although she was gripping his face tightly, Ark could not feel anything, all he felt was a tiny pinch on his cheek.

It was almost as if she wasn't there…

"If you check you'll see that he had a rather nice muscle structure, it's just underdeveloped at the moment." She continued.

She then took out her tap and was about to measure his shoulders when he flinched back.

Milk sighed.

"This one keeps making jerky movements, he's making our work difficult."

Meanwhile Red was exploring the room.

"So this is how they build houses over here?" She paused at what resembled an odd piece of technology to her. "And what is this?"

Silver glanced back.

"It's a lamp."

She was almost already done with her measurement while Ark was completely flabbergasted by her boldness.

"You really don't have any self respect do you?"

Still no answer.

Ark angrily walked past her, the girls moved to the side as he did and watched him sit down on his bed.

She sighed.

Milk who had also noticed the interaction then asked:

"What kind of weapon do you have in mind?"

Ark's curiosity was once again piqued.

'Are they from the staff? We're they crafting a weapon for him for the trial?'

It was the logical thing to think and yet it made no sense. One could not wield artifacts until they had passed the trial and awakened.

The Archive would give them a base artifact at some point in the trial or after the trial so there was really no need for that.

"What is going on?" Ark mused to himself.

The silver girl was already back like an incessant bug and had her tape roll out.

"Alright I'm done…" She was about to leave when Ark grabbed onto her shoulders.

He was practically glaring as he spoke.

"Where do you think you're going?"

"Huh?" The girl looked at him with a hint of annoyance but that look changed almost suddenly.

"Huh?!"

She squirmed in his grip, her face going completely pale.

"You can see me?"

"Of course I can."

"Oh…"

She suddenly began to shift around trying to escape his grip but Ark held onto her firmly.

"Tessie! Mellininisse! He can see us!"

"Huh?!"

"What?!"

They both said simultaneously. That was when they discovered that Silver was currently in his grip.

Milk stepped forward with cautious steps, like a pet that knew it had done bad.

She waved her hands in front of Ark's face, when she noticed that he followed her movement she almost went stiff with shock.

"He can see us…"

"Of course I can! Don't you guys have any sense of boundaries? You can't just walk into my room without permission!"

Silver's eyes were closed now, she had shut them when he started yelling and slowly opened them when he stopped.

"Err… I… I didn't know you could see us—"

"That is not an excuse. What are you even, all of you?"

"I can't answer that." Silver said.

Red had walked closer to them as well and was staring intently at him.

"I think it's his eyes."

"What about my eyes?" Besides being a rare golden colour, Ark felt his eyes were completely normal.

Silver then leaned in closely up until their noses could almost touch.

'This girl has no sense of boundaries.'

"Oh." She then somehow wormed her way out of his grip and was at the other side of the room within seconds.

"Well it was nice meeting you!"

The three of them suddenly disappeared into thin air but just before they did Ark heard one of them mutter:

"We've messed up…"
