Freddy broke the silence as he munched on his pancakes. "So, what's your name?"
Luca looked slightly surprised that someone was sitting close to them. Once he had a view of the additional person, he turned back to Natus.
"My name is Natus Orient," Natus said, "and he is Fredericko Salatiel, but I call him Freddy."
Natus finished speaking, and his eyes blinked, waiting for Luca's reply. This was the first time Luca was doing this.
Luca pinched some of the hair on his forehead. "My name is Andrew, Andrew Anderson Luca."
His skin was so white that any new feeling made him flush.
"Original name," Natus commented. He found it very original, as it didn't match up with a typical girl's name, but these days, parents even called their daughters North.
Freddy, the bald boy, was tired of being the third wheel. He had seen the girl first, after all. "I think break will soon be over," he started to say, but before he could finish, he received a huge knock on the head.
"Ouch!" Freddy exclaimed, rubbing his sore spot.
Behind him stood a 10-year-old girl with huge French curls that resembled a tangled mess of spaghetti. Her tiny face was adorned with light makeup, and her not-so-impressive eyelashes framed piercing blue eyes that seemed to burn with anger and jealousy.
The girl was dressed in her school uniform, holding a fan that she had used to knock Freddy's head earlier. Freddy's bald head now sported a mini mountain of a bump.
"Baldy, sorry I hit you," she said, blinking an eye at Freddy, who promptly blushed.
"So, who's our new friend?" Bambina sneered, staring at Luca as she fanned herself.
The students in the canteen, sensing the tension, quietly dropped their meals watching attentively.
Bambina was like the queen bee of grades one through eight, and what fueled the respect was her father's high position in the army.
Luca, however, was not intimidated. He had watched many movies, and he knew a bully when he saw one. Bambina's demeanor reminded him of his past experiences. At his previous school, Luca was constantly bullied due to his frail appearance and poor grades, which made him dread going to school.
"Luca's my name," Luca replied, his eyes locked on the girl's.
Bambina tapped the chair Freddy was sitting on, and he quickly stood up. Five girls, standing behind Bambina like loyal guards, seemed to be waiting for her command.
"You're new, right?" Bambina asked, slamming her fan on the table. The loud noise made almost everyone in the canteen flinch.
"First of all, while you're in this school, you'll address me as 'Queen Bambina'," she declared, her voice dripping with arrogance. "And secondly, you'll follow the rules. Rule number one: never sit at a table without permission from me or my friends."
Bambina's eyes narrowed, her gaze shifting to Natus. "Do you understand, Luca?"
"Secondly, Natus is mine," she said possessively. "He's my fiancé, and we're going to get married in a few years."
Luca wondered why this girl was so territorial and controlling.
Every time Natus tried to befriend someone new, she would intimidate them, scaring them away. As a result, Natus was left with only one friend, Freddy.
"And lastly, anything Bambina says is fact," she declared, beaming with pride. "Must do, must have."
Luca let out a chuckle. "Hahaha, spoiled kid."
In his past, Luca had allowed bullies to push him around because his dad had instructed him to avoid trouble and keep a low profile. But here, his dad hadn't given him any specific advice. While Luca remained unfazed, the students in the canteen couldn't help but stare at him.
Bambina's face turned red with rage. "How dare you call me spoiled, Brad!" She swung her fan at Luca's jaw, leaving a small bruise.
The tension in the canteen reached a boiling point. Luca surveyed his surroundings, his eyes scanning the floor for potential threats. He spotted sharp objects like pencils, spoons, and forks.
Bambina took a step back, sensing danger, but before things could escalate further, a soft, gentle voice echoed through the canteen.
"Let's stop all this," Jane said, one of the few people authorized to intervene in Bambina's cases. "Good morning, Senior Bambina."
Jane walked over to Luca's side. The little boy, infamous for his numerous dangerous plans, retracted upon seeing Jane beside him.
"Senior Bambina, this is my twin, Luca," Jane said.
Luca's face contorted in disgust, as if he was about to vomit at the introduction.
