She is your fiancée...

Scarlet Winter wanted to blame herself for walking into the office at the wrong time.

"Can't they go home if they want to cling to each other so badly?" she thought angrily.

But deep down, she knew it wasn't really her fault. Yes, she had walked in at the wrong time—but wasn't Lucian the one insisting on this marriage in the first place?

Slowly, she walked back to her desk and sat down. Her gaze grew distant as she stared blankly ahead, lost in deep thought.

Meanwhile, inside Lucian's office, Lucian's anger boiled over. He watched Scarlet Winter turn and leave after dropping that cold statement.

Without thinking, he shoved Scarlett Roberts away from him. Caught off guard, she stumbled backward and fell onto the floor, letting out a small scream as her ankle twisted painfully. "Ouch!" Scarlett cried.

Lucian stared down at her coldly. "Scarlett, what are you trying to do?" he asked, his voice low and filled with anger. "Make her upset? Push her away?"

He wasn't a fool. He could clearly see her little scheme—to drive a wedge between him and Scarlet Winter. It was a low-level trick, but dangerous all the same.

Especially now, when their marriage was still fragile and Scarlet was already unsure about it. He didn't want things to get worse.

Scarlett Roberts lifted her head and met his cold gaze. As Lucian slowly walked toward her with measured steps, she sneered.

"What's wrong, Lucian? Are you scared she'll leave you?" she said, her voice filled with mockery. "Scared you will be left stranded as you did to me."

"I'll make sure you never have peace," she added bitterly.

Lucian's eyes turned even colder.

His jaw clenched tightly as he bent down and grabbed her chin roughly. "Who was the person that abscounded from the agreement given a chance for this twist?"

"Don't try me, Scarlett," he warned, his voice icy. "Or you won't like what I'll do to you."

Scarlett let out a bitter, mocking laugh.

She stared at him like she was seeing him clearly for the first time.

She laughed again, seeing Lucian lose his usual calm over such a simple scheme—it was refreshing to her. Slowly, she pushed herself off the floor, standing up unsteadily with a cold look in her eyes.

Without saying another word, Lucian turned sharply and stormed toward the door.

With a strong twist of the handle, he flung it open. And walked towards her.

The gust of air startled Scarlet Winter at her desk. She lifted her head quickly, her heart racing as she saw Lucian step into the outer office, his anger rolling off him like a storm.

He marched straight toward her desk, the dangerous glare in his eyes making Scarlet tense up and take a deep breath, bracing herself.

When he stopped in front of her, his voice was harsh."Are you really serious right now?" he asked.

Scarlet blinked, confused by his sudden rage—and even more confused by his choice of words. "She's your fiancée, remember?" she said quietly. "And... it's not like you didn't want her touching you," she added, her voice dropping so low it was almost a whisper.

Lucian narrowed his eyes at her. He leaned closer, his voice sharp and cold. "Touching me? Scarlet," he said, "tell me... does a married man also have a fiancée?"

"Well, married or not, I'll leave that for you to decide," Scarlet said calmly, even though her heart was racing.

"And before you start blaming me for everything, maybe you should fix things with her first," she added, her voice firm but not loud.

Lucian stood there, his jaw tightening, his fists clenching at his sides. He was doing everything he could to control the rage that was bubbling inside him. Seeing her walk away like it didn't matter doesn't go down well with him.

Scarlet gave him a brief glance, not missing the tension in his body.

Without another word, she picked up her phone from the desk, casually leaned back in her chair, and shifted her body slightly—to put more space between them.

She hadn't forgotten where they were.

This was still the office, and she didn't want to make an even bigger scene.

A small, mocking smirk tugged at her lips as she spoke again. "Please," she said, her tone light but sharp, "keep a reasonable distance. This is a workplace, after all."

Lucian's eyes darkened even more at her words, but he said nothing. The gap between them grew colder, filled with unspoken words and building tension. Like a gust of wind, he returned to his office again, shutting the door with a bang.

Scarlett Roberts, seeing Lucian return to the office, almost laughed out loud as his rage boiled over. She might not have gone out with him but she is certain it hadn't gone well with him. She imagined him calming her down but the next words out of his mouth shattered her fantasy.

"Scarlett Roberts, leave this office. Right now," Lucian said coldly, his voice sharp and full of warning.

Scarlett froze, the smile on her lips disappearing immediately.

She blinked at him, not sure she heard him correctly.

"What... What did you say?" she asked, her voice shaking slightly.

"I said, leave. I don't want to see you here anymore," Lucian repeated without any emotion.

Scarlett's face turned pale. She clenched her fists at her sides, trying to hide her embarrassment and anger. She had never been thrown out like this before — especially not by Lucian, who used to treat her so kindly.

"You're choosing her over me?" she said, her voice rising with disbelief. "An assistant girl? Who's nothing compared to me?"

Lucian's gaze turned even colder. "You don't decide who is important to me. I do," he said firmly. "And right now, I'm telling you—get out."

Scarlett's chest heaved with anger and humiliation. She opened her mouth to argue, but Lucian had already turned his back on her, clearly done with the conversation.

Realizing she had lost completely, she bit her lip hard, picked up her purse, "You carry out I can't walk because I sprained my ankle when I fell down earlier." She coplained.

"Don't worry, the securities can help you with that." He said as picked the phone to call them up. Scarlett Roberts can't imagine how much of her dignity will remain if the securities where to get involved.

"Not necessary." She said coldly as walked slowly out of the office controlling the pressure in the leg. Her face clouded with anger.

Outside the office, she paused briefly at Scarlet's desk. "Don't think you have won this time." She smirked.

Scarlet stared at her in confusion "Meaning?" She asked raising a brow. She wondered what this lady is thinking all day.

As Scarlett wanted to speak further, Scarlets work phone rang. She doesn't need to think to know who is calling her. "Assistant Winters, come in."

Scarlet dropped the receiver and glanced at her "Miss Roberts, I think you should know who and where to direct your anger? Your problem is with Lucian and not me. So, please excuse me." She concluded.

She side stepped her to walk towards the office, as her hand rested on the handle she took a deep breathe, slowly she pushed the door in and stepped inside.
