It came to Jax, after the bit of distraction from Gemma, that since he had an amazing axe in his inventory, he should learn to fight with it. And since he couldn't fight with that axe exactly, he needed something close enough.
"Axe? We do. Right over here," the woman said, turning toward one side of the wall where a bunch of axes were hanging. "They are good for the damage you want, but they don't have much range. Just five feet at best."
"That's alright. I have somewhat changed my mind just now."
The woman nodded and let him browse the axes on his own.
Jax looked at the wall and the many axes, immediately ignoring the shorter ones. Even if an axe was shorter than the other weapons the woman had shown before, he still wanted some range. He needed the range with his new weapons to stay away from the Giant Bear and Spiders and still be able to kill them.
Of the taller ones, he looked for the ones with good quality and searched for ones that looked like the axe he got earlier that day.
"I think this one works for you," Gemma said, flying up next to an axe on the wall. It was a red axe with a bronze metal handle and a dark-red, almost crystalline head. The handle was rather long, and the head was flat and long, somewhat similar to the good axe with him.
"May I look at that?" Jax asked the woman, who walked up to the wall.
The woman slowly pulled the axe out of the wall, grunting as she did so. "Please be careful, it's heavy."
Jax nodded and took the axe. He felt the weight immediately, noticing that it was as heavy as a slime. For a weapon, that was rather heavy. But, because of his physical body, he could hold something that heavy and move it around with relative ease.
"The handle is made up of a bronze and titanium alloy and has a very high elasticity. The head is made up of a volcanic rock found at the depths of the ocean floor, known as Scarlet Obsidian. This axe should be very useful for any warrior above the 3-Star Opal stage. Are you at that stage yet?" the woman asked.
"No," Jax said. He was no warrior to begin with.
"Ah. Then let me show you this one—"
"No, I will take it," Jax said instantly, looking at the woman with a smile. "I like this one."
The woman seemed puzzled. "But you can't make use of it."
"That's for me to worry about, right?" Jax asked. "I'm more curious about the price."
He turned toward the wall, where the number should be written. He saw the small slip of paper with the number written on it and paused.
His eyes went wide at the sight of the price.
"18 Opal stones?" he asked. This axe was nearly twice as expensive as the poleaxe from before. That was… worrying.
He quickly took a look into his inventory to see how many stones he had. There were exactly 18.
'That's… bad,' Jax thought.
Including the 12 stones he had earned today, he had six more with him that he hadn't used up just yet. But these were stones he was saving up to pay Julian, to buy some provisions for tomorrow, to get some potions.
One of the stones would also be what he used tonight to fill his Sea of Navi. Without it, his absorption rate would be horrible.
Jax couldn't help but frown because of that. If I buy it today, I will need to be very careful tomorrow. He couldn't help but sigh.
"Umm, do you still wish to buy it?" the woman asked, seeing Jax's conflicted face.
Jax looked at the weapon in his hand and sighed.
"Yes, I would still love to buy this. Where should I make the payment?"
The woman smiled. "Right this way!"
Once Jax paid all the 18 stones he had for the single weapon, he made his way back to the training center, where he had his dinner and left the halls.
He usually went back to his room at this point to gather some Navi and go to sleep for tomorrow, but today, he needed to stay outside. He had to both practice with his new axe and absorb the Navi later on.
Navi was denser outside than it was inside, so many of the people chose to stay outside during the night.
Jax first went to the training ground, where he trained for a while with the new axe. He had to get used to the heaviness of it and how it affected his movements.
He also practiced pouring his Navi into his body, but with the heaviness of the axe, that wasn't all he had to do.
Jax realized that unless he strengthened his legs too, a strong swing would just lift him off the ground or make him fall. A rather strong swing could also backlash in a way where he ended up getting hurt himself in the end.
So, the only thing he could do was pour his Navi throughout his entire body. That was the one thing he needed to do before he too could be as strong as warriors.
"Is there anything bad that could happen with me doing this?" he asked Gemma.
"With learning what the warriors can naturally do? Nothing directly," Gemma said. "The only issues would be the indirect ones, like you wasting Navi instead of using it in your spells. Or how you will have to focus away from it during a fight, which could kill you."
"Those… certainly are bad," Jax said. "But they won't harm my body or my Navi stage in the long run, can they?"
"No, you will never have any issue with Navi by trying to learn skills," Gemma said.
"Great!"
Jax continued to learn. After training for nearly two hours, Jax was finally out of all Navi in his body, at which point he finally left for the sorcerer's training ground, where he would absorb the Navi for tonight.
