Chapter 15: Acquiring Source Energy Points

Early the next morning.

[Name]: Jiangning

[Source Energy]: 3.9

[Skills]:

Literacy (First Breakthrough 69/2000) (Trait: Photographic Memory)

Five Beast Fist (Beginner 4/100)

When he opened his panel, Jiangning was momentarily stunned.

"Source Energy increased by 0.3 in one day?"

"This is the first time in over two months that Source Energy has increased by 0.3 in a single day!"

"It seems my earlier assumption was correct! The growth of Source Energy is related to my daily energy intake!"

"Yesterday, I consumed one-tenth of a wild ginseng, a bowl of medicinal soup from the martial arts school, as well as meat and a large amount of rice. That's why I was able to gain 0.3 Source Energy in one day."

He pondered this, gradually understanding the logic behind the growth of Source Energy.

"It seems I'll need to find a way to make money soon! Without money and medicinal supplements like wild ginseng to support my martial arts training, Source Energy's growth will slow down!"

His understanding of the saying "the poor pursue scholarship, while the rich practice martial arts" deepened.

Wealth was crucial for his martial arts training!

[After this practice session, Five Beast Fist has gained a total of 2 experience points.]

[Skills]: Five Beast Fist (Beginner 6/100)

"The progress from beginner to proficient in the Five Beast Fist has reached 5%!"

Jiangning clenched his fist again, feeling the qi and blood energy flow into his right fist.

"Having qi and blood energy circulate through one arm is considered a minor achievement. I still have a long way to go!"

A new thought suddenly crossed his mind.

What kind of trait would the Five Beast Fist gain after breaking through its limits?

Thinking of this, he shook his head slightly. "I'm getting ahead of myself. Martial arts techniques also have five levels: beginner, proficient, minor achievement, major achievement, and perfection. Only after reaching perfection can one break through the limits. With my current efficiency in grinding experience points, who knows how long it will take!"

Then, Jiangning walked over to the stone locks.

He gripped the 100-pound stone lock with his right hand and lifted it effortlessly off the ground.

"It's even easier than last night. It seems my physique has improved a bit more!"

Feeling the increase in strength, Jiangning felt a sense of satisfaction.

The feeling of constant progress was intoxicating.

He wished he could spend all twenty-four hours of the day practicing martial arts and grinding experience points.

"Don't rush! Don't rush!!" He shook his head inwardly. "Being too eager for quick results isn't good! The body's endurance is ultimately limited. My current rate of progress is already far beyond that of ordinary people. Moreover, I have no bottlenecks to worry about. That's one of my greatest advantages!!"

Meanwhile, Jiang Li, who had just stepped out of his room, saw Jiangning testing his strength with the stone lock. His eyes narrowed slightly, and a look of surprise flashed across his face.

"Little brother's strength seems to have improved again. He's lifting that stone lock even more easily than last night."

At this moment, Jiangning put down the 100-pound stone lock and walked over to the 150-pound stone lock.

He exerted force with his right hand, and three corners of the stone lock lifted off the ground, but the last corner remained firmly planted.

"It seems I'm still far from being able to lift 150 pounds. My strength is probably between 110 and 120 pounds. The early stages of strength improvement are indeed rapid!" Jiangning shook his head slightly and gave up on further strength testing.

Then, while resting and recovering his stamina, he picked up the book he hadn't finished reading last night and continued flipping through it.

[Literacy Experience +1]

[Literacy Experience +1]

"Little brother, come eat breakfast!"

A voice called out, and Jiangning stopped reading, closing the book in his hands.

[After reading this book, Literacy has gained a total of 6 experience points.]

[Skills]: Literacy (First Breakthrough 75/2000) (Trait: Photographic Memory)

"Grinding experience points for the Literacy skill is much easier!" Jiangning thought to himself.

Entering the main hall, a steaming bowl of porridge was already placed on the wooden table, with bits of minced meat floating in it.

"Little brother, eat up! Afterward, I'll take you to the martial arts school," Jiang Li said as he skillfully served a bowl of porridge to his wife, Liu Wanwan.

"Big brother, are you coming with me today?" Jiangning asked, surprised.

"Yes," Jiang Li nodded. "Yesterday, Xu Yunfeng followed you all the way home. Starting today, I'll escort you to and from the martial arts school. With me around, Xu Yunfeng won't dare to touch you."

"That's not a good idea," Jiangning shook his head. "If a big brother comes with me, my sister-in-law and the kids will be left alone at home. That's not safe."

Jiang Li looked confident. "Don't worry about that, little brother. I've already made arrangements. A sworn brother from the yamen will patrol this area."

Liu Wanwan also spoke up reasonably, "Little brother-in-law, don't worry about us. Your big brother is still a yamen officer with official status. Xu Yunfeng is a smart man. Smart people don't do things like forcibly breaking into homes it's too reckless."

"Before the yamen's year-end evaluation, nothing will happen to us or your big brother. But you're different! On your way to and from the martial arts school, anything could happen."

Jiang Li added with a smile, "Your sister-in-law is right. Besides, whether you can become a disciple of the martial arts school is the most important thing right now. Your success concerns both me and your sister-in-law. In this situation, how can we not take your safety seriously?"

Jiangning listened quietly to his elder brother and sister-in-law's words, deeply moved.

He understood that these words weren't something they had come up with on the spot.

His elder brother and sister-in-law must have discussed this thoroughly last night to come to this conclusion.

He firmly shook his head again. "Big brother, sister-in-law, there's no need to say more. When I go to the martial arts school today, I plan to stay there long-term."

"Stay at the martial arts school long-term?" Jiang Li looked up in surprise.

Jiangning nodded. "Yes, I plan to ask Master Wang for some work and stay at the martial arts school for a while."

"Will that work?" Jiang Li hesitated.

Jiangning also shook his head. "I don't know if it will work, but I want to try."

"Alright then!" Jiang Li nodded decisively. "There's no harm in trying. If you can stay at the martial arts school long-term, it will help your training. It'll save you the trouble of running back and forth every day, and you'll be much safer. I'll take you to the martial arts school one more time later."

"Alright," Jiangning nodded, no longer arguing.

A short while later.

They finished breakfast.

"Big brother, wait a moment!"

Before leaving, Jiangning went back to his room and returned after a few breaths.

"Little brother, what did you take?" Jiang Li asked, noticing the bulging area at Jiangning's waist.

Jiangning smiled. "Just some self-defense tools."

As he spoke, he patted his waist.

What he carried wasn't anything special it was lime powder, a common item in the martial arts dramas of his previous life.

Though it seemed like a small thing, lime powder was undoubtedly useful in close combat.

He also carried a book with him, something to read during breaks from training to grind experience points for the Literacy skill.

An hour later.

The two of them arrived at the gates of the Canglang Martial Arts School.

The journey was uneventful.

"Go back now," Jiangning said.

"Alright," Jiang Li nodded, then added, "I'll come back in the afternoon."

Jiangning smiled. "Big brother, don't worry. I'll convince Master Wang to let me stay."

With that, he strode through the gates of the martial arts school.

Watching Jiangning's figure disappear into the school, Jiang Li turned and left.
