The chamber's oppressive energy did not fade as Shin, Rei, and Jiro stood before the monolith. The weight of the vision still lingered in Shin's mind—a warning of what lay ahead. The Void Cult was not merely a threat to the shinobi world; they sought to unmake reality itself.
Rei's fingers clenched around her kunai. "So what now? We know what they want, but how do we stop them?"
Jiro exhaled, shaking his head. "We don't even know where they are. And even if we did, what the hell are we supposed to do against people who can mess with the Void itself?"
Shin stared at the inscriptions on the monolith. The Void had chosen him—or perhaps cursed him—with knowledge no one else had. He couldn't afford hesitation.
"We need to return to Konoha," Shin said finally. "If the Cult is this far along in their plans, we don't have time to waste."
Jiro scoffed. "Oh sure, we'll just waltz in and tell the Hokage that an ancient cult wants to rewrite reality. That'll go over well."
Shin's gaze was steady. "They'll listen. Because if they don't, there won't be a world left to protect."
For a moment, there was only silence. Then, Rei nodded. "Let's move."
A Fractured Peace
The journey back to Konoha was swift, but an unshakable tension followed them. Shin's mind replayed the vision over and over—the destruction, the unraveling of existence. The Cult was further along than he had feared.
By the time they reached the village gates, the streets were unusually quiet. Even in the late evening, Konoha was rarely this subdued. A sense of unease settled over them as they passed through the entrance.
A squad of ANBU appeared almost immediately, blocking their path. Their leader, a masked shinobi with a hawk insignia, stepped forward. "Shin Noragetsu. The Hokage has requested your immediate presence."
Shin exchanged a glance with Rei and Jiro before nodding. "Lead the way."
They were escorted through the village in silence, the streets eerily empty. As they approached the Hokage's office, Shin's unease deepened. Something was wrong.
The moment they entered the office, they were met with the sharp gaze of the Seventh Hokage—Naruto Uzumaki. His expression was grim, and beside him stood Sasuke Uchiha, arms crossed, his Rinnegan eye studying Shin with quiet intensity.
Naruto didn't waste time. "You found something."
Shin took a breath. "More than that. We found the truth about the Void Cult."
He recounted everything—the monolith, the vision, the Cult's true objective. As he spoke, Naruto's expression darkened, and even Sasuke's normally impassive face shifted with unease.
When Shin finished, silence hung in the air. Then, Naruto leaned forward, his fingers steepled. "If what you're saying is true, we're dealing with a threat beyond anything we've faced before."
Sasuke nodded. "They're not just after power. They want to break the very foundations of our world."
Naruto's gaze flickered toward Sasuke before returning to Shin. "You've done well bringing this to us. But we need more than just knowledge. We need a plan."
Shin exhaled. "Then we need to find the Cult's stronghold before they make their next move."
Naruto nodded. "I'll send a team to investigate the remnants of their last known locations. Sasuke, you'll lead the operation."
Sasuke didn't hesitate. "Understood."
Naruto then turned his gaze back to Shin. "And you—your connection to the Void makes you a target. They'll come for you."
Shin met his gaze steadily. "Let them try."
Shadows in the Dark
Later that night, Shin stood atop the Hokage Monument, gazing down at the quiet village. The weight of responsibility pressed against him. He had come to Konoha as an outsider, but now, he was at the center of a war that threatened everything.
Footsteps approached. He didn't turn—he already knew who it was.
"You're not alone in this, you know," Rei said, stepping beside him. "Whatever happens, we face it together."
Shin didn't answer immediately. He had spent most of his life fighting alone, surviving by his own strength. But now… now, things were different.
"I know," he said finally.
Rei smiled slightly. "Then don't try to carry everything by yourself."
Shin didn't respond, but a small part of him felt lighter.
The storm was coming. But this time, he wouldn't face it alone.
