Yuna walked through the night, her silent footsteps blending with the dark. The city lights sparkled in the distance, but everything felt gray and faded to her. The emptiness inside her felt sharper than the cold of the night.
Eunwoo's disappointed face… the way he let go of her hands… the pleading in his eyes...
She tried to leave it all behind, but her heart ached.
She entered a narrow alley where street lamps were sparse. She had wanted to walk alone, but this place felt too deserted. Occasionally, the sounds of drunken laughter echoed, and the wind scattered papers through the trash.
Just as she was about to turn back, a group of young men appeared in front of her.
There were five of them.
Torn jackets, messy hair, and mocking smiles… One of them fixed his gaze on Yuna's face.
"Hey, it's pretty dark here, isn't it? What are you doing alone, beautiful?"
Yuna quickly changed direction, but the men blocked her path.
"No need to run. We're just going to chat."
One of them tried to put his arm around Yuna's shoulder. She pulled away, but the men closed in on her.
"Let go of me!"
One of them laughed loudly. "Whoa, a bit feisty."
Another leaned in closer to Yuna's face. "Let's have some fun, what do you say?"
In that instant, everything happened so fast.
The air changed.
The wind itself shifted direction.
In the blink of an eye, two shadows appeared.
One of them grabbed the man roughly and threw him away. The man screamed as he hit the ground.
The other appeared in mid-air and landed in front of the group.
As the man on the ground lifted his head, his eyes widened in horror.
In front of him stood an angel and a demon.
Hwan and Eunwoo were in their true forms.
Eunwoo's wings glowed in the moonlight, his eyes sharp. Hwan's eyes burned with the darkness, a slight smirk on his face.
The young men stepped back in fear.
"W-What's happening?!"
One of them screamed, and then, in a panic, they all started running away.
The last man, crawling on the ground, passed right by Yuna and disappeared into the night.
Eunwoo turned to Yuna. "Are you okay?"
Yuna nodded, but her voice failed her.
Hwan narrowed his eyes, his hands shoved in his pockets as he spoke indifferently. "Even the city's thugs are disappointing... I was hoping for a more entertaining fight."
Eunwoo shot him a stern look but said nothing.
Yuna stood between the two men.
Eunwoo stepped closer, his voice soft. "Let me walk you home."
Hwan tilted his head slightly. "Or I could. After all, it's because of me you're safe."
But Yuna rejected both offers.
"No... I want to go alone."
Eunwoo remained silent.
Hwan didn't press the matter either.
Yuna turned her back and continued walking. She moved alone through the darkness of the night.
But what she didn't realize was that Eunwoo still walked a short distance behind her.
He would follow her for days, trying to make her turn back. Because, while Yuna thought leaving was the right choice for Eunwoo's career, he believed that, in time, they could overcome everything together.
But for Yuna, it seemed impossible. The pressure from fans and threats… maybe separation was the best choice.
With these thoughts, Yuna arrived home. As soon as she stepped inside, overwhelmed by the day, she collapsed and began crying uncontrollably.
