★ANGELITA★
The bright morning sunlight streamed through the windows and landed on my face. I squinted my still-shut eyes and got out of bed, stretching.
A knock sounded behind the door, and I slowly made my way to it, stopping before the mirror and taking in how hideous my hair looked.
"I really need to work on this wild hair."
I walked to the door and opened it to find Jeanette and Eunice standing outside. I blinked in confusion.
"Good morning, Mrs. De Luca," they greeted in sync, and I twitched my lips at the formal address.
"We've come to help you prepare for the morning."
"Help me prepare? I haven't had a shower yet," I told them.
"Exactly why we are here, Mrs. De Luca. We've come to help you bathe and get ready for the day."
I couldn't help the laugh that slipped past my throat—I thought they were joking. But when I saw not even a hint of a smile on their faces, my own faded.
"You both can't be serious, can you?"
