What mattered most right now was figuring out what role the parallel world system that had appeared in his mind would play.
And, he needed to find a decent weapon—this wooden stick in his hand was nowhere near enough to protect himself in this post-apocalyptic world.
Thinking about Henry's arrogant yet contemptuous gaze and the fire axe in his hand, Jonathan felt an unexplainable discomfort.
Though both of them were very polite in their words and actions toward him, that deep-rooted arrogance and the constant air of keeping him at arm's length made Jonathan feel inferior.
On top of that, seeing Tiffany's red lace underwear earlier made Jonathan's mind wander for a moment, and an evil impulse stirred in his heart.
Looking at how high and mighty they were, Jonathan couldn't help but feel a wave of annoyance.
If this had been during the peaceful times of his past life, Jonathan admitted that he probably would have been nothing more than a servant to such international superstars. He wouldn't even have had the right to be their servant.
But now… it was the apocalypse!
Jonathan's expression grew cold, and he felt a slight disgust toward the two of them.
"System, can you hear me?" After locking the bedroom door, Jonathan tried to make contact with the system.
[Yes, my master. You can call me Sara.]
A soft, feminine voice echoed in Jonathan's mind.
He looked around, but there was no one else in the room. He was certain now that the voice was coming from his mind.
This made Jonathan feel an incredible rush of excitement!
As long as he had a powerful system, becoming a king in this post-apocalyptic world wouldn't be too difficult!
"Sara, introduce your functions!" Jonathan said, speaking into the air.
[Information missing~~~zzzz~~~Host, please kill more zombies to complete the energy recharge~~zzzz~~~]
"It seems this system is damaged... I need to recharge it immediately..." Jonathan muttered in disappointment. Thinking back to the moment after he killed a zombie, it seemed as if a white energy had entered his body. He couldn't help but want to go out and kill a few more zombies to see if it would work again.
According to the system's prompt, killing zombies would recharge the energy.
And based on the fact that killing one zombie completed 10% of the recharge, it seemed that about ten zombies would be needed to fully recharge the system.
This didn't seem too difficult.
"Right now, the most important task is to kill zombies to recharge the system and figure out what this system can actually do!" Jonathan said eagerly, standing up and pacing back and forth.
Without the help of the system, surviving in the apocalypse would be incredibly difficult for an ordinary person!
Jonathan had to quickly figure out how the system worked, use it to his advantage, and increase his chances of survival in this new world!
Meanwhile, downstairs, Henry and Tiffany were excitedly hugging each other while rummaging through the fridge.
"This fridge is stocked with enough food for us to wait here until the military arrives! The military has set up a shelter in Los Angeles. There's plenty of food and water there, and the army guarantees the safety of the survivors. I think it won't be long before the military manages to stabilize the situation and sends people out to rescue survivors!" Henry said, his face lighting up with excitement as he looked at the fridge full of food.
Without thinking, he didn't even consider giving Jonathan a share of the food.
To Henry, someone like Jonathan, a Latino, didn't deserve to share their survival supplies!
"Henry, don't you think this Mexican guy is a little strange? I just feel like there's something odd in the way he looks at me!" Tiffany thought about the way Jonathan had looked at her legs earlier, and a wave of disgust washed over her.
She was an international superstar, a true person of power!
She couldn't stand the thought of living with someone like a lowly Latino, who would occasionally even peek at her every move.
She had already started imagining if Jonathan might take advantage of the situation when they weren't paying attention and violate her noble, beautiful body.
"Darling, we're in the apocalypse now. Anything can happen. I can't tolerate having a strange man living with us—sharing our food and water!" Tiffany said with concern. "If he has any ill intentions, we can't constantly watch him. What if he takes advantage of us when we aren't looking? What will we do then?"
"Besides, he's an uncivilized person of color. These low-class people, without any laws or moral restrictions, could do anything!"
Henry, too, had fallen into deep thought, and his eyes grew colder by the moment.
"Darling, don't worry. If he dares to hurt you, I'll chop him down with my axe! A lowly, short Mexican can't stir up any trouble!" Henry snarled, shaking the fire axe in his hand. "As long as I'm here, no one can harm you, my dear Tiffany!"
Hearing Henry's words, Tiffany felt much more at ease. She was a delicate woman, helpless on her own, and in the apocalypse, she needed a man's protection. Having her husband by her side made her feel much safer, and she felt lucky to have him.
Tiffany pulled out two vacuum-sealed steaks and a bottle of red wine from the fridge. With excitement, she said, "Thank God, these steaks are vacuum-sealed and haven't spoiled! Darling, let's enjoy a long-awaited candlelit dinner together!"
Saying this, Tiffany expertly turned on the gas and placed the steaks on the frying pan to cook.
Not long ago, the two of them sat down at a table with a steak, opened a bottle of red wine, and lit a few candles. In the restaurant's tasteful ambiance, they sipped the wine and ate the steak, occasionally sharing a romantic kiss and caressing each other's bodies.
After all, they were newlyweds. In such an atmosphere, it was only natural that they began to feel a bit lustful. Their heated bodies couldn't help but become entangled.
"Dear Henry, we haven't made love in days!" Tiffany looked at Henry's handsome face, her expression flushed with desire, her eyes flickering with ecstasy.
During the recent period, in their struggle for survival, they had been living under constant pressure and facing death at every turn. The hunger and strain had overwhelmed them, leaving no room for anything else.
In that situation, where would they find the energy for intimacy?
But now, with a safe shelter, plenty of food and water, and a slight buzz from the wine, they both felt a sense of relief. Their minds and bodies were relaxed, and with their hunger satisfied, they could finally give in to their desires.
Henry watched as Tiffany's burgundy skirt accentuated the curve of her hips, and a glimpse of her soft, pale skin peeked out from beneath the fabric. He had long been hungry for her, and under the embrace of their kiss, his hand slowly traced along her smooth, snow-white legs toward the inner curve of her thighs.
When his hand grazed Tiffany's red lace panties, he could feel her arousal through the fabric. Her body was already soaked with desire, and through the delicate lace, Henry could sense the sticky warmth of her love.
As Henry's fingers explored, Tiffany began to moan softly. They kissed each other passionately, their breaths quickening as they began to undress one another.
Just then, there was a sudden noise from downstairs, as though something was being rummaged through. Both of them froze, startled by the interruption.
Tiffany, too, seemed to snap back to reality.
"This is a real bummer!" she muttered, irritated. "The thought of this Mexican living under the same roof and sharing food with us is killing me!"
Henry shot a glare toward the stairs, deeply worried that his beautiful wife's curves would be exposed to Jonathan in the slightest.
He was like a protective lover, treating his beautiful wife's body as something sacred, something to be cherished and shielded from anyone else's gaze. He couldn't bear the thought of anyone else seeing what was his, not even a glimpse.
"We can't do it here," Henry murmured, his voice filled with unease. "It would feel wrong if he came down and saw... everything. My wife's beauty isn't something for others to see."
Tiffany, already overwhelmed by the heat of their closeness, felt her desire build with each touch. But when she noticed Henry had paused, she gave a soft, almost spoiled sigh. "Then get him out of here. One more person sharing food and water is one more risk, and... I can't stand the way he's been looking at me."
