When the giant octopus saw Ran Deng, he was confused, because he was very sure there was no new clan member. Just then, he felt a tiny bit of the power of Ran Deng and instantly became serious.
Different beasts are born at different time and with different strength, he was born relatively early with a strength of middle great golden immortal stage. Every of the 71 beast lineage clan heads was born with this strength. In comparison, the 365 only had 5 born with this strength, but they had over four times the numbers with only one small stage lower.
From this one can see that whether it's the land, sky or even the underground, the first beings born of their respective factions are all around the middle stage, while the innate divine beings start at the late stage, those with stronger origin that are neither the first nor unique are around the early stages.
This is the highest origin of this time, later on, it is near impossible to be born in the great golden immortal stage. Talent isn't the only requirement, the more important factor is the worlds favour towards those beings, with the intention of helping them spread their lineages and enhance the world's origin step by step.
Talent is an illusory thing that can always be changed, especially for immortals, it's only a matter of time, as long as they are patient, even without resources, they can reach similar heights as those born first. Time is often neglected because of the calamity energy that always pushes people into doing unwise things, else, why would there only be seven saints in the later stories, even though there were many who could catch up?
The giant octopus send away the one that brought Ran Deng. Although confused, he complied.
When they were both the only remaining ones in the room, the giant octopus transformed into a taoist form, he cupped his hands and said respectfully "Ba Shoubi greets the senior!"
Ran Deng looked weirdly at him 'The ancients all have such simple names… Eight Arms, well, it indeed fits the description of octopi…'
He then said "Um, I was wandering around the western deep sea and coincidentally met a clan member of yours…"
When he said this, it was Shoubi's turn to look weird, making him think 'The west sea is so empty, wandering around won't result in finding any treasures. There are so few of our members in the sea, most of them in the clan land… what coincident is this…"
Ran Deng ignored the look and continued "I saw that you race is very fitting for my buddhist sect's teachings. I wonder if you are willing to join the sect? I see that you have become a late great golden immortal cultivator, so you should be looking for a path to take to advance further. If you are willing to join my sect, I will open a path not only for you, but for your whole race. I will also give you direct instructions on a path that is fitting for yourself."
This was a bit abrupt but Ran Deng had many things to do and didn't want to waste his time talking meaninglessly. His strength is there, the opportunities are given, if he is still rejected, then it must be because there is no fate. Anyways, there were still the fanged fish and the eels in this western sea, one of them is meant to join his sect.
Ba Shoubi was surprised, then he began to think. All innate beings have a high intelligence, but this didn't mean they were as socially advanced as others, especially not in these waters. There was only one thought regarding this.
'He looks similar to us… his spiritual power doesn't conflict with the water. I also feel a sense of opportunity from this, maybe this is really the path of our octopi race!'
He didn't doubt the intentions of Ran Deng – whether it was the lack of social skills or the little light that shined around Ran Deng, making him feel especially righteous, there was a sub-conscious thought in Ba Shoubi's mind that this person would definitely mean no harm to him.
After some thought, he bowed "Senior, our Octopus Clan is willing to join and learn the buddhist sect's teachings!"
Some things are known to you even if you hadn't heard of it. This is the basic inheritance in the minds of all innate beings, which is why they are intelligent and know many things from the moment they were born. He was able to understand the principle of a sect, it was a gathering of many same-minded people who walk the path together. Seniors would help in exchange for resources, and juniors would be guided in exchange for their potential.
Ran Deng smiled "I knew you would make the right choice! Your octopus race is very fitting for the eight-fold path, if you didn't take it, it would take a long time for anyone to take this path!
Widely known are the nine and ten-fold path. The nine-fold path is to align oneself with the order of the world, it is to know the limits, support them and assist the world. The ten-fold path is to create one's own path of success and climb it.
In comparison, the eight-fold path is less known and sometimes even looked down upon. It neither conforms to the greater order nor create an order itself. The eight-fold path is to create the path for others.
Some say it's to create wedding dresses for others, but in fact, those that create the eight-fold paths are also ten-fold path walkers, or even stronger, since they create a path for themselves and others to walk upon. The number eight is the limit of how much one can help others, nine is to conform to the order, but if your path isn't unique, then conforming is impossible, while creating the own path is a supreme achievement only few can do.
On the other hand, the eight-fold path reaches the limit of helping others. This path is the most suitable for your race.
As for your own path, I can help you with this. Since you are the first of your race, you will naturally walk this path first, which is to create paths for others to walk upon. The masters of the eight-fold paths are all strong. There are no essential differences between all the ten paths.
We buddhist have three branches: to reach enlightenment and become a buddha is the goal of all paths, to save the suffering is to experience suffering and overcome it to become a buddha, and to enlighten others is to reflect on one's own path and learn in a mutual relationship.
Among the path of reaching enlightenment, there is a general truth in the world. To reach enlightenment, one has four needs: Wealth, Opportunities, People and Land.
Wealth are the resources needed on the path. In Buddhism, this is represented by the Bagua Diagram, which can foretell the future to avoid disasters and seek good fortune, and the Tong Shield, which is the shield to defend against weapons and direct disasters.
Opportunities are bound with good fortune, without them, one has difficulty reaching the peak. To gain opportunities, one not only needs good fortune, but one also needs the means to take them. These are represented by the Sword for battle, to fight those that hold what you need, as well as the Spear, to conquer the land full of opportunities."
