Chapter 6: The Man of Steel Notices

Metropolis. A city of light, ambition, and order. Unlike Gotham, which thrived in the shadows, Metropolis was built on hope—a beacon of progress where crime struggled to gain a foothold.

But every city had its weaknesses.

In a luxurious penthouse overlooking the skyline, he sat across from Selina Kyle—his wife. Their wedding had been quiet, private, and deliberate. No grand spectacle, no interruptions—just the two of them, bound by love, ambition, and the promise of building something greater.

Selina leaned back on the couch, sipping her wine. "Metropolis feels different," she murmured. "People actually believe in this city."

He smirked, swirling the drink in his hand. "That's why it'll be easy."

She arched a brow. "You're enjoying this, aren't you?"

"Of course." He set his glass down and pulled her onto his lap. "Building an empire isn't just about power—it's about control. And Metropolis? It's ripe for the taking."

Her fingers traced slow circles on his chest. "And after Metropolis?"

His hand moved to her stomach, resting there for a moment. "Then we build something more permanent."

Her eyes softened. "You're serious?"

He nodded. "Completely. I want us to have a family. A child raised not in fear—but in power."

Selina studied him, then kissed him deeply. "Then we make it happen."

A soft chime rang in his mind.

He grinned. "Well… that's useful."

Selina smirked. "System being helpful for once?"

"For once," he agreed.

He activated the device with a single press. A faint pulse spread through the air—silent, undetectable, but powerful.

For the first time, Superman went deaf.

High Above Metropolis

Superman hovered above the skyline, his cape billowing in the wind. His eyes scanned the city, ears attuned to its rhythms—the heartbeats, the distant chatter, the sounds of a living metropolis.

Then—nothing.

His brows furrowed. A void had formed, a sudden dead zone in his senses. It wasn't just sound; it was as if part of the city had been erased from his perception.

His gaze locked onto a newly established corporate tower in the heart of Metropolis. It hadn't been there long, but it was already making waves in business and politics.

Superman's instincts whispered danger.

And he had learned to trust them.

With a sharp turn, he descended, heading straight for the unknown.

Inside the Office

Selina watched the city from the window, fingers tapping lightly against the glass. "We have a problem," she said without looking back.

He didn't even need to ask. The building's security system pinged. An unidentified high-speed object was approaching—fast.

Superman.

He smirked, adjusting his tie. "Right on time."

Selina turned to him. "And what's the plan? Smile and wave?"

He stood, straightening his suit. "No, something better."

Her eyes narrowed. "Which is?"

He pulled her close, their foreheads nearly touching. "I make him doubt himself. And then… I make him mine."

Selina smiled. "Now that I want to see."
