Welcome to the System

Do-Yun awakens in the morning only to be met with a system alert, a blue screen with black accents. He rubbed his eyes not believing what he was seeing, and then he sat up and looked at it. Then he reads it as if to taste the words on his tongue.

"Welcome to the Hermes System... Hermes System has been Bound to Do-Yun Min" He wasn't exactly enthusiastic when he said it as he got up, the alert following him into the bathroom as he went to brush his teeth and clicked an arrow as the implications finally hit him once he was fully awake.

"Wait a minute...!" His brain fog lifted as he read the welcome message again.

"Bound...? Hermes?" Do-Yun asked to no one, then the system gave him one last alert.

"You can interact with the Hermes System through touch and voice command."

"Nice to know." Do-Yun said "All notices off?" commanded haphazardly as the notices just vanished from sight.

"Huh...it worked... since it's the weekend... I wonder...do I have skills?" Do-Yun wondered as he had the free time to kill.

"Skill Display...?" Do-Yun quizzically anticipated the system giving him a response

"VSH" The system prompt appeared showing two skills:

Mana Circuit(PASSIVE): Mana has been etched and ingrained within the body of the Host

Transport Link(ACTIVE): Form a mental link to anything considered [Transport] and control it according to your intent, bringing out the full potential of the [Transport] of choice.

"Transport link...?"

The system attempts to activate [Transport Link] but it fails, the alert notice flashes red as "Activation Failed" shows up in front of Do-Yun's face. He grumbles.

"Stats?" Do-Yun asked in a questioning manner.

"FSH" The skill menu vanished and was quickly changed to the stats menu.

Control:0

Do-Yun looked at his stats, but the only stat that really interested him was a peculiar stat called "Control". It was an odd stat to have in a status window, in fact, it had never even been heard of.

"What the hell is Control...?" Do-Yun attempted to find out what control meant as he washed out his mouth, then got dressed in his room, first looking at the meteoroid fragment, then at the box. A sense of overwhelming determination gripped Do-Yun's being as if an invisible force was spurring his next actions.

Do-Yun begins to open the box, almost with practiced hands. the shifting of the cardboard and the top popped open before he dug his hand into the box and pulled out the shoes, all-black shoes, retractable wheels with white wheels before going outside to try them, putting on the sneakers, then curiously, he said the one active skill he had.

"[Transport Link]"

The moment he uttered the name of the skill, he felt something, a cold sensation that went from head to toe, before thinking about what he wanted to do. In his mind, two words were all he needed.

"Move Forward"

The wheels began to glow and grind against the ground as if doing a burnout, through intuition, Do-Yun moved his weight forward as his wheels spun ferociously before he was blasted forward, the wheels of the skate shoes accelerating on their own. Now there's a new problem, he needed to stop.

"Stop!"

Do-Yun shouted in his mind, and his wheels were no longer controlled through mana, however, he was still in motion, not knowing how to stop, having to choose between falling and crashing, he chose to crash, as he embraced a wall at full force.

"Ow...!" Do-Yun said, as he felt had a warm river of blood come from his nose.

"I need to get better if I'm ever going to get into a gate..." Do-Yun told himself as he began to learn how to use these skate-shoes with determination no different from when he unboxed those shoes.

he practiced all day. Every weekend until he could say he was half-decent without using mana, he watched videos of those who wore the shoes and tried to learn how to move naturally without the use of his skill, starting from the basics before using his skill once more. Eventually, he got the hang of it enough that he could get around the place with it. His final, self-imposed trial before he could say he'd mastered these skate shoes was to simply ride to the store and back. He got up and began to ride to the store, using the movements he practiced so hard. Realizing it had gotten late, he bought a vitamin water supplement and began to skate home with practiced movements while drinking the vitamin supplement before going into his house setting the shoes down gently, disengaging the wheels, and going into the shower.

"I've mastered those shoes...it was easier than I thought..." Do-Yun thought to himself, before pulling up the stat window.

"Wait a minute..." Do-Yun said to himself, covering his mouth and smiling. He wasn't looking at any other stat than the "Control" stat. it had increased by 1.

"Heh...Heh heh....hahahaha! YES! FINALLY! THE CURIOUSITY WAS KILLING ME!" Do-Yun celebrated in the shower, then dried off and put on some pajamas.

"Tomorrow's Sunday...I can practice even more.
