You are the Portals key

Meagan's world narrowed to a single, desperate thought: Save Mahalia.

But Maren was faster as she pushed Mahalia away, Meagan was suddenly contacted with a heavy blow that knocked the breath away from her.

The girls saw Meagan flying across them, and Matilda's face contorted into pure rage, Meagan hit the floor again, this time, she didn't have the strength to stand up immediately. Maren turned and saw that Matilda was so enraged. Her eyes were clouding already.

"We need to run now!" Maren screamed those words with hoarse passion, as she hurried towards Meagan, helping her up, and Mahalia was hot on her heels.

"Was can't leave Matilda" Meagan cried out desperately, "I won't leave my baby"

"Trust me Mom, we need to take cover, Matilda is pissed!" Screaming those words in a hurry, Maren pulled Meagan, as they ran towards a room that looked dusty.

Meagan's face was etched in worry as she saw that the echopeks were closing in on Matilda. But then she decided to trust the girls, they were super Kids after all, as they got to the room and shut the door, Meagan peeked from the window, realizing only now that she had never seen Matilda use her powers.

Meagan's eyes widened in awe as Matilda unleashed a primal scream, her rage-filled voice shaking the air and sending shivers down Meagan's spine. Matilda's eyes clouded, her pupils dilating as her hair whipped around her face like a frenzy of snakes. She began to ascend, her body floating inches above the ground.

"Matilda!" Meagan cried, but her words were lost in the chaos.

Matilda's face contorted in fury, her hands rose, and the winds responded. Gusts of angry and biting wind slammed into the creatures, sending them tumbling. The ground trembled beneath Meagan's feet as Matilda's eyes snapped open, blazing with an ethereal intensity.

With a fierce cry, Matilda grasped the earth, her fingers curling as if clutching an invisible rope. The ground shuddered, split, and yawned open, swallowing the creatures whole. Matilda's powers raged on, sinking the earth deeper, entombing the beasts alive.

Finally, she slammed the ground shut, sealing the creatures beneath. Exhaustion claimed her; she collapsed, limp and spent.

Meagan rushed to Matilda's side with Mahalia, shaking her gently. "Matilda, wake up!" Meagan's voice cracked with desperation.

Matilda's eyelids fluttered open, her gaze unfocused. Meagan's grip tightened, holding her upright.

With a sigh of relief, they helped her up.

"Matilda, are you okay?" Meagan asked her, still concerned.

"Yes Mom, I am happy I didn't hurt anyone, I am still a loose Canyon with my powers, I haven't achieved mastery yet" Matilda admitted as she bowed her head in shame.

Before Meagan could reassure her a voice rang out. "None of you have reached your full potential, or even have full control, you are missing an important part of yourselves"

The ladies turned as footsteps approached them, their stance rigid and defensive, the dust in the air made the area where the voice came from foggy.

As the dust cleared, they saw a nun standing at the other side.

"Sister Emma!" The girls screamed as they ran towards the nun. Meagan stared at them, still suspicious.

"Hello girls, it's been a while we saw, you have grown into beautiful ladies" the nun remarked as she touched their faces. Then turned to Meagan.

"Hello Meagan, do you remember me?" The nun asked and Meagan nodded, realizing that she was one of the sisters she had met at the gate that day. But after she went inside she didn't see her again.

"What happened here?" Meagan asked her , her eyes still cautious.

"Well… I thought that was obvious to anyone with eyes, it's deserted Meagan, and partly because of you" sister Emma finished with a soft accusing glare.

Meagan didn't try to hide her surprise, her gaze in slits, she crossed her arms over her heaving chest as she spoke. "And how is it my ''fault' exactly? I mean I didn't even know anything about this!"

"Well, when Mahalia tried to connect with you, and although she didn't do it intentionally, she used her powers, however little, so we had to vacate the kids, and in fact desert this perfectly fine place" Meagan scoffed at Emma, who turned an angry glare at her.

"Look here sister, or nun… I won't have you blaming my innocent child for all these okay? She didn't do anything wrong!" Meagan defended Mahalia, which caused the girl's eyes to light up.

With a bored expression, sis Emma replied. "Okay mama bear, we have to leave right now, you may have won the Echopek, but I am sure more creatures will be drawn to the use of powers here, come on!"

Everyone followed sister Emma, Meagan particularly followed not because she liked her, but because she was scared that something worse than spider beast and Echo… whatnot will be back for her.

When they got a plain looking room, sister Emma turned a little sculpted object that looked like the earth globe and the pain walls opened, revealing a hidden staircase.

Meagan hesitated, reluctant to enter with them, she eyed sister Emma cautiously.

Sister Emma noticed that Meagan didn't follow them, she paused and turned around with an exasperated sigh. "If I wanted to harm you, I wouldn't have appeared yet, you may not realize it yet, but Krakov has placed a huge bounty on your pretty head" sister Emma shook her head as she moved on".

That made Meagan move in, and after the short flight of stairs, they got to a huge rock, it looked like it was just a sealed tock, as it had a huge drawing of something that looked like an angel, Meagan guessed because of the wings she saw on it.

"Alright Meagan, open the door, so we can get a better understanding," sister Emma gestured to the Grand rock in front of them.

Meagan looked at Emma like she had gone mad, when sister Emma raised a brow in a questioning glare, Meagan gave a dry chuckle, then ran her tongue inside her mouth.

"I served in the military quite alright, and I am mostly strong, but do you really think I can slide that door open?" Meagan rolled her eyes at the end of her sentence.

"Meagan, I didn't ask you to use physical strength, and I didn't expect you to, you are the Portal's key. And that makes only you able to open this door" sister Emma stated matter of factly.

"And what exactly do you mean by that? Here… you must have heard those beasts calling me Portal or something, but I assure you I am a normal human being" Meagan asserted firmly as she gestured with her hands on her chest.

Sister Emma looked mortified, as she stared at Meagan with her mouth hanging open. "Wait… you don't think you survived that throw by that Echopek, or the blast by yourself right? I mean, you know no human is going to be able to stand upright and fine after all the fighting and blows you received".

"I told you, I was strong… okay? Even when I was a child, I was really strong" Meagan's eyes blazed angrily as she stood rigidly.

"Okay Meagan, we don't have time for this, thankfully you don't need powers to open the door, and you wanted answers right? Well the answers are in the other side of the door"
