Chapter 121: Bound by Fire

Chris's fingers moved with the precision of a man who knew exactly what he was doing—and exactly how she would react.

Slowly, deliberately, he traced his hands down her arms, slipping the jacket off her shoulders. It fell to the floor in silence, but neither of them acknowledged it. The war between them had already begun.

Skylar's breathing was uneven, her pulse betraying the battle in her mind. She should stop this. She should walk away.

But when Chris's fingers brushed against the buttons of her blouse, his eyes locking onto hers with that same commanding intensity, she knew she wasn't going anywhere.

"You still think you hate me?" His voice was low, teasing, his fingers undoing the first button.

Skylar clenched her jaw, refusing to give him the satisfaction of a response.

Chris smirked. Another button. Then another. Slow. Agonizing. Deliberate.

"Tell me to stop," he murmured against her skin, pressing a kiss to her collarbone.

She should. She had every reason to.

But when his lips traced lower, when his fingers ghosted over her bare skin, her silence was the only answer he needed.

Chris exhaled, his grip tightening around her waist as he pulled her against him, his voice dark with satisfaction.

"That's what I thought."
