White House – Situation Room
Chris stood at the center of the war room, arms crossed as the latest intelligence reports flashed across the massive screen. Russia hadn't pulled back. In fact, their troop presence at the Ukrainian border had increased.
Ethan let out a sharp breath. "They're calling your bluff."
Chris didn't blink. "Then it's time to remind them who they're dealing with."
He turned to the Secretary of Defense. "Deploy additional NATO forces to Poland, Romania, and the Baltics. Increase aerial surveillance and have our destroyers in the Black Sea on high alert."
The general nodded. "Understood, sir."
Chris's voice hardened. "And activate Operation Veil."
A few officials exchanged glances. The Director of National Intelligence spoke first. "Sir, that's… an escalation."
Chris's gaze was cold, calculated. "So is Russia's refusal to stand down."

Undisclosed Location – Russian Military Base
1:00 AM.
The base was silent, save for the faint hum of computers inside the operations center. Then—a flicker of light. A glitch.
Seconds later, the entire power grid shut down.
Russian officers scrambled, shouting into radios. Their air defense systems, radar networks, and encrypted communications had been compromised.
They had just been blinded.

Moscow – Kremlin Office
Petrov's face twisted in rage as the reports flooded in.
"We've lost control of multiple military systems. Our radar installations are down. Our Black Sea defenses are offline—"
He slammed his fist onto his desk. "Blackwood."
His intelligence chief hesitated. "It's not just cyberwarfare, sir. There are reports of sabotage within our ranks."
Petrov's eyes narrowed. "Meaning?"
The room was silent. Then the intelligence chief muttered: "Meaning someone inside is working for him."

Washington – White House Oval Office
Chris read the intelligence brief with a smirk.
Ethan chuckled. "So, what's next?"
Chris leaned back in his chair.
"We let them sweat."
"And when they make their next mistake—"
"We end this."
