Chapter 139: The Crown's Weakness
Buckingham Palace – Private Royal Chamber
The heavy oak doors shut behind them, sealing the room in silence. The King of England leaned back in his chair, studying President Christopher Blackwood with a mixture of curiosity and caution.
"You claim I won't have a choice. Convince me."
Chris smirked slightly, setting down a classified dossier on the table between them.
"Your Majesty, the Crown's greatest weakness isn't external."
He tapped the file.
"It's internal."
The King's gaze sharpened. "Go on."
Chris flipped the first page. A list of key weaknesses within the British monarchy flashed before the King.
1. Economic Vulnerability
"The British economy is under strain. Inflation, stagnation, and a weakening pound. The monarchy thrives on stability, but without a strong financial backbone, even the most sacred institutions crumble."
Chris leaned in. "Blackwood Holdings has the influence and capital to reinforce the British financial system. I can secure private funding, strategic investments, and technological advancements to strengthen the Crown's position."
The King said nothing, but his fingers tapped against the armrest—a silent tell.
2. Political Instability
"The monarchy's relevance has been questioned. A growing republican movement, a restless Parliament, and a media that thrives on scandal."
Chris tilted his head. "You need a counterbalance—someone the public fears more than they doubt the Crown. A force that shifts attention away from the monarchy and onto something greater."
The King raised an eyebrow. "And that force is you?"
Chris smirked. "A global superpower that demands attention. With my presence on the world stage, the monarchy regains its prestige—because in a world of chaos, people seek tradition. Stability. You."
The King exhaled slowly.
3. The Royal Family's Internal Conflicts
Chris turned another page. "Your Majesty, your own bloodline is your greatest risk."
The King's expression darkened.
"Hidden scandals. Power struggles. Personal ambitions that threaten the legacy you've sworn to protect."
Chris's voice lowered.
"I can make problems disappear."
Silence stretched between them.
Then, the King finally spoke. "And what do you want in return?"
Chris leaned back, his eyes sharp.
"An alliance. The Crown stands with Blackwood. Publicly. Politically. Economically."
"Because soon, the world won't be ruled by countries."
"It will be ruled by power."
"And I intend to be the one holding it."
The King stared at him for a long moment. Then, slowly, he nodded.
"You're either the most dangerous man I've ever met—"
"Or the most brilliant."
Chris smiled.
"Why not both?"
