Chapter 177: The First Mission

Chris sat behind the Resolute Desk, fingers interlocked as he studied Skylar. She sat across from him, poised yet fully aware of the weight of her new role. Ethan stood by the window, his usual stance—silent, observant, but always ready to step in when needed.

Chris finally broke the silence. "Skylar, I want you to go to Nigeria."

She raised an eyebrow. "Nigeria?"

Chris nodded. "Your first assignment as Minister of Women Affairs will be there. I need you to assess the situation on the ground, meet with key figures, and handle the policies we're implementing."

Skylar leaned forward, her eyes sharp. "What exactly do you want me to focus on?"

Chris tapped the desk lightly. "Economic empowerment, security, and education for women. Nigeria is a powerhouse in Africa, but there are challenges. You need to meet with local leaders, government officials, and NGOs. I want real results, not just media coverage."

Ethan cut in. "The political climate there is tricky. You'll have full security, but there are people who won't like your presence—especially with the U.S. backing you."

Skylar smirked. "You think I can't handle it?"

Chris smirked back. "I know you can. That's why I'm sending you."

She took a deep breath, nodding. "Alright. When do I leave?"

Chris stood, walking toward the window. "Tonight. I want this handled immediately."

Skylar exhaled, standing up as well. "Then I better start preparing."

Chris turned to her, his voice steady. "Skylar, this is more than a diplomatic trip. This is a test. People will watch your every move—some waiting for you to fail. Prove them wrong."

Skylar met his gaze. "I don't need to prove anything to them. I just need to do my job."

Chris smirked. "That's why you're the right person for this."

Ethan glanced between them before nodding. "I'll have the security detail prepped. We'll send word to the Nigerian government and set up meetings."

Chris extended his hand. Skylar shook it firmly. "Go and handle business. I'll be watching."

As she turned to leave, Chris watched her go, knowing this wasn't just about policy.

This was about power. And Skylar was about to show the world exactly why she was chosen.
