Chapter 230: Target in Sight

Ethan adjusted the earpiece in his ear, his gaze locked on the black sedan parked outside an old warehouse on the outskirts of D.C. He sat in the driver's seat of his own vehicle, engine off, watching from a distance.

Skylar was here.

It had taken longer than expected to track her down, but he had finally done it. Traffic cameras, digital footprints, and old instincts had led him straight to this moment.

Through his scope, he saw movement. The driver's side door opened, and Skylar stepped out.

She looked different. No longer the refined, poised woman from Chris's world—now, she was a fugitive. Hair tied back, dressed in plain clothes, moving with urgency.

And she wasn't alone.

Ava Sinclair.

Ethan clenched his jaw. Of course. He should have known Skylar had help. Ava was one of the few people bold—or foolish—enough to go against Chris.

He pressed a finger against his earpiece.

"Target located," he murmured.

Noah's voice crackled through. "Orders?"

Ethan hesitated.

Chris had told him to bring her back. Not to hurt her. Not to kill her. He wouldn't make the same mistake twice.

But Ava was a wildcard. If she was involved, this wasn't just about Skylar escaping—this was bigger.

Ethan's fingers tapped against the steering wheel as he watched them move toward the warehouse.

Skylar didn't know he was here.

Which meant he had the advantage.

For now.
