Ethan Carter – The Meeting Continues
The tension in the room was thick, but no one dared to openly oppose Christiana's words. They knew better.
I glanced at her, silently impressed. She was commanding the room like a true Blackwood.
But the meeting was far from over.
"Let's proceed," I said, my tone leaving no room for argument. "We have decisions to make."
A large holographic display appeared above the table, showing the Empire's current structure. I could see the power shifts taking place. Some officials had gained more influence, others had been quietly sidelined.
The Prime Minister, still visibly displeased, cleared his throat. "We need to discuss the restructuring. The public will demand answers."
Christiana smirked. "Then give them answers."
"And what exactly do we tell them?" Minister Langley asked cautiously.
"That the Empire is under stronger rule than ever before," she replied.
The ministers exchanged glances, some uneasy, some intrigued. They were testing the waters, seeing how much resistance they could afford to show.
I leaned forward. "Let's be clear. The King has returned, and his rule is final. You either fall in line, or you step aside."
I let the words sink in. No one spoke.
They understood.
The First Order of Business
General Hawthorne shifted in his seat, speaking carefully. "The military requires clarity on the chain of command."
Ah. A power play.
I turned to Christiana. She already knew what to do.
"The military answers directly to me now," she said, her voice firm. "That includes all security details, operations, and mobilization."
Several officers stiffened. The Prime Minister had just lost control of the military.
Hawthorne frowned. "That's a massive shift. The armed forces have always—"
"Always been under the King," I interrupted smoothly. "And now, by his command, under his Dictator."
Hawthorne hesitated, then nodded stiffly. He had no choice.
The Second Order of Business
The finance minister spoke next. "The treasury needs to prepare for upcoming economic reforms. His Majesty will need to approve any major changes."
Christiana exchanged a look with me. She was catching on quickly.
"The treasury will function as normal. Any reforms will be dictated by the King himself," she stated. "Until then, no major financial shifts will be made without direct authorization."
Another subtle move. No one could touch the empire's wealth without approval.
Finalizing the Meeting
After an hour of discussion, adjustments, and quiet submissions, I checked my watch. The meeting was coming to a close.
I stood. "If there are no further objections, we're done here."
No one spoke.
Because they knew.
The Blackwoods were back. And their rule was absolute.
