Chapter 471: A Gathering of Storms

Ethan Carter – The Family Arrives

The tension in the room could have shattered glass.

Skylar stood tall, her arms crossed, her expression unreadable—but I knew her well enough to see the fire burning beneath. She was a woman scorned, a queen whose authority had been challenged. And now, the entire Blackwood family was walking into this battlefield.

Chris entered first, his presence filling the room effortlessly. He was composed, unreadable as always, but I saw it—the flicker of curiosity in his sharp gaze as he looked from me to Skylar.

Behind him, Classic walked in with measured steps, his expression neutral. Christiana followed, her usual smirk absent, replaced by deep intrigue.

Then, the others. The powerhouses of the Blackwood Empire. All gathered.

Something told me Skylar had planned this moment perfectly.

She turned to Chris, her voice calm yet laced with accusation. "How long were you going to keep it from me?"

Chris raised an eyebrow. "Be specific, my love."

Skylar's lips curled into a tight smile. "Our child."

Silence.

It was as if the entire world had stopped.

Classic's eyes widened. Christiana straightened. The gathered officials exchanged uneasy glances.

Chris, however, remained still. Too still.

Then, ever so slowly, he chuckled. A low, amused sound that made the tension in the room spike.

"And here I thought you were furious about something else."

Skylar didn't laugh. "I want the truth. Now."

Chris exhaled, looking at Ethan. "You told her?"

I shook my head immediately. "She found out on her own."

Chris's gaze flickered with something unreadable before he turned back to his wife.

"You really are something, Skylar."

"Don't flatter me. Answer me."

Chris folded his arms. "What do you want to know?"

Skylar took a step forward, her voice eerily calm. "Where is my husband's child?"

For the first time since walking in, Chris's expression hardened.

And that was when I knew—this was about to get worse.
