Chapter 478: The Unseen Ruler

Ethan POV

I sat in the secured command center, screens displaying live feeds from various government buildings and high-security locations. The influence of The Dictator was undeniable now—Christiana had consolidated power faster than even I expected. She was ruthless, efficient, and dangerously competent.

But there was one truth she—and everyone else—needed to remember.

Chris was still in control.

I tapped the encrypted line and waited. Seconds later, his voice came through, calm and unwavering.

"Ethan."

"Chris, you need to see this for yourself."

I switched the main screen to the live feed of the council room where Christiana had just finished her latest meeting. Ministers filed out, some whispering to one another, but the Prime Minister lingered, his frustration visible even through the grainy surveillance footage.

I heard a low chuckle from Chris.

"She's making them nervous."

"Nervous is an understatement," I replied. "She's cutting through resistance like a blade. Policies are changing, and if she gets full control over military strategy next, even I won't be able to override her easily."

There was silence for a moment before Chris spoke again, his tone unreadable.

"Connect me to the room."

I hesitated for half a second before executing the command. A secure transmission activated, linking Chris' encrypted line directly to the council's private comms system.

Inside the meeting room, the Prime Minister and his close advisors froze as Chris' voice echoed through the speakers.

"It seems you've all forgotten something."

The Prime Minister turned pale. "Y-Your Majesty—"

"I may not be in the room, but I am always watching."

Christiana, who had been reviewing documents, finally lifted her gaze. Unlike the others, she didn't flinch. She simply smiled.

"Father," she said smoothly. "It's been a while since we heard your voice in here."

Chris chuckled. "Indeed. But I see you've been keeping my seat warm. How generous of you."

The tension in the room thickened.

"Let's not forget who still holds the final authority," Chris continued. "I placed you in this role, Christiana, but that does not make you the ruler. It makes you… an extension of my will."

For the first time, I saw a flicker of something in her eyes. Was it irritation? Or amusement?

"Then tell me, Father," she said, tilting her head. "What would you have me do?"

Chris' tone remained composed but carried unmistakable weight.

"Remember your limits, my dear. And remind everyone else of theirs."

With that, the transmission ended.

I leaned back in my chair, exhaling.

Chris had reminded them all with just his voice.

Even in the shadows, he ruled.
