Chapter 51: The Useless Resurrection Stone and the Powerful Resurrector!

Dudley listened to Dumbledore's analysis with a look of surprise on his face. This old geezer was completely stimulated to have an epiphany!

His mind was turning as nimbly as ever!

"Well… Have you already been to Gaunt's old house?"

Dudley asked, sucking his teeth and staring at Dumbledore's old hands, afraid that the old man had already got hold of the Gaunt ring with the Resurrection Stone on it and put it on.

Dumbledore noticed Dudley's gaze and was a bit puzzled. He replied quite naturally:

"I haven't gone yet. Didn't you say you thought of a clue and wanted to come back and discuss it with you?"

"That's good!"

Dudley had thought that this powerful ally he'd managed to win over would be out of action in less than half a month. Fortunately, this old geezer still listened to reason.

"Dudley, have you had another prophecy? You look a bit… strange!"

Dumbledore asked curiously.

"You were right in your previous analysis. There is indeed one of Voldemort's Horcruxes hidden in Hogwarts and one in Gaunt's old house respectively."

Dudley didn't take up the topic of prophecy. Instead, he quite frankly confirmed Dumbledore's previous guess. With the Human Cheat System being so helpful, it wouldn't be polite of him to hold back anymore.

"Great! I'll go search Gaunt's old house first!" Hearing Dudley's words, Dumbledore was full of energy again and wanted to set off right away.

"Wait!"

Dudley quickly shouted to stop the advancing old man. "Just wait for a little while, just a little while!

It won't make a difference. I still have some important information to tell you. Besides, you haven't fully reported the results of what you did before!"

"Okay then! You first, or me first?"

Dumbledore sat back down on the chair.

"I'll go first. The Horcrux stored in Gaunt's old house is the ancestral ring of the Gaunt family. Voldemort set very powerful dark magic on it. Even you would fall victim if you put on the ring carelessly and suffer hard - to - solve damage."

Dudley quickly emphasized the seriousness of the matter.

"Dudley, you're really dissing me!" Dumbledore showed his childlike, conceited smile again. "Why would I put on that ring? I'll definitely break the dark magic on the Horcrux first!"

Dudley didn't laugh along with Dumbledore. Instead, he said very seriously: "Because there's the Resurrection Stone inlaid on that ring! It's the Resurrection Stone, one of the three Deathly Hallows in the legend, on par with the Elder Wand in your hand!"

After three consecutive sentences of emphasis, the smile on Dumbledore's face disappeared.

"Dudley, is what you said true? The Resurrection Stone… The Resurrection Stone is in Gaunt's old house!" Dumbledore lost his composure. His face showed excitement, longing, and fear of loss.

"Cousin! What is the Resurrection Stone? Can it… bring the dead back to life?" Harry, who was listening by the side, also lost his composure and couldn't wait to ask.

Seeing the reactions of his cousin and the old geezer, Dudley couldn't help but feel a bit heart - aching and scared. He quickly shattered their illusions:

"As cruel as it may sound, I have to solemnly remind you that the Resurrection Stone can't bring people back to life, just like there's no starry sky in the dish 'Stargazing' (a British dish made of fish heads)!"

"What?!"

"Professor Dumbledore exclaimed, and his surging emotions were immediately doused like cold water being poured over him. He felt really bad.

"I see," Harry murmured dejectedly, but his reaction was much better than Dumbledore's. Growing up in the Muggle world, he didn't hold much hope for the fanciful tale of resurrection.

"Dudley, why do you say so? Did you foresee the function of the Resurrection Stone?" Dumbledore still wouldn't give up and continued to press.

"The Resurrection Stone can only allow the user to summon false images of their deceased relatives and friends. I don't know whether these images are generated from the user's memory or simulated from the souls of the deceased. But I'm sure that these images are absolutely false and not the real souls of the deceased. After being summoned in front of the user, these images will make the user feel extremely affectionate and happy. Then, a thought will rise from the user's heart, that is, the afterlife is more wonderful, leading them to commit suicide. If someone with a weak will gets the Resurrection Stone, they won't be able to resurrect others but will end up losing their own lives instead."

Dudley explained the function of the Resurrection Stone in detail. Seeing Dumbledore looking utterly despondent and a bit incredulous, he immediately spoke up again:

"Professor Dumbledore, this is very obvious. If the Resurrection Stone really worked, would Voldemort have been willing to leave it in the old house? Given his personality, would he be able to live with himself if he didn't resurrect a bunch of powerful pure-blood wizards from history to be his Death Eaters? Also, would it be reasonable for him not to carry it with him and resurrect his Death Eaters instantly when they were killed? If the Resurrection Stone were truly useful, the Gaunt family, who owned it, should be thriving now, instead of leaving only an empty house!"

Dudley's familiar way of reasoning through questions was like a sword cutting through the fog, completely shattering Dumbledore's delusions.

"You're right, Dudley! I lost my composure! Please forgive an old man who has lost several family members. As one gets old, they always miss their family, especially recently, seeing your daily interactions with Harry and the Dursleys here..."

Dumbledore managed to regain his composure with difficulty. He reflected with tears in his eyes.

"There's no need to be like that," Dudley softened his tone. "Wanting to resurrect deceased relatives is only human. There's no need to apologize. Harry and my mom also want to be resurrecting Aunt Lily and Uncle James, right? I just want you to stay rational and not pin your hopes on a useless piece of junk stone. As for resurrecting relatives, I'm not completely out of ideas!"

"Thank you for your understanding," Dumbledore wiped his tears, trying to calm his emotions. He habitually gave a grateful response, but as he was wiping his tears, he suddenly realized:

"Dudley! What did you just say in the last sentence?!"

"Cousin, he has a way to resurrect the deceased!" Harry beside him excitedly repeated Dudley's answer on his behalf.

"Right!" Dudley nodded to confirm.

Dumbledore got anxious again and stammered, "What... What method?!"

"Find a way to separate the Horcruxes from Voldemort's soul fragments without harm, and let the three lost treasures of the Hogwarts founders that Voldemort turned into Horcruxes get rid of Voldemort's filthy soul and return to Hogwarts.

Once this is done, my inborn endowment will acquire an extremely powerful force. This force can allow me to transcend the boundary between life and death, and I can resurrect anyone I want!"

Dudley stood up and painted a real big picture for Harry and Dumbledore with an extremely confident and infectious speech.

"I'll definitely try my best to find a way! Definitely!" Dumbledore replied extremely firmly.

Seeing Dumbledore in this state, Dudley stepped forward, using the gesture he learned from Hagrid, and reached out to pat Dumbledore's old shoulder, comforting him:

"Okay, this thing can't be achieved overnight.

Let's take it one step at a time. First, focus on what's at hand. Dumbledore, you're still in a restless mood. You can put off the trip to Gaunt's old house to retrieve the ring Horcrux and the Resurrection Stone for a bit.

Now, tell me about what you've done previously, such as the locked diary Horcrux and the situation of the Death Eater Barty."
