Inside the Interrogation Room, white lights crisscrossed.
Dudley had been practicing Legilimency on Peter Pettigrew's rat head for over an hour.
Finally, he grasped the knack and got familiar with this advanced spell.
Peter couldn't even let out screams anymore and could only grunt mindlessly.
His mind was in a daze. Dudley's unskilled Legilimency almost drove him insane.
Thankfully, Dudley knew where to draw the line. He didn't want to torture a fool. So every time he felt that Peter was reaching his limit, he'd stop and give Peter a chance to catch his breath, preventing him from actually going crazy.
Even though the spell - casting was intermittent, over an hour was enough for Dudley to dig out all of Peter's secrets.
After filtering out the random and meaningless memories for Dudley and Harry, the most useful secret in Peter's mind was that he knew the location of Voldemort's wand.
Back then, in Godric's Hollow, at the ruins of Harry's parents' destroyed house, before being chased by Sirius, Peter Pettigrew went there, found the yew wand that Voldemort left behind when his body was destroyed, and carefully hidden it in a secret place.
In the original story, after Peter's identity was exposed and he escaped from the Shrieking Shack, he went to find Voldemort's main soul that was wandering outside and retrieved the yew wand he had hidden specifically for Voldemort.
Now, Dudley had preempted this secret about the location of Voldemort's wand.
"Hahaha!"
"Slap! Slap!"
Dudley laughed three times heartily. In high spirits, he raised his hand and slapped Peter twice more.
"Cousin! Did you find something?"
Harry asked curiously. He knew that whenever his cousin showed such a smile, it meant his cousin had either gained some benefits or got information about some benefits.
"That's right! Harry! It seems you don't have to worry about your Holly wand facing off against its twin brother anymore!"
Dudley explained cheerfully. Then he drew a circle in the air with his right hand and took out a syringe full of medicine from his Personal Space.
There was an English label on the syringe that read: Epinephrine Injection (Veterinary Use).
Then, Dudley neatly removed the syringe's protective cap, stabbed it into Peter, and pushed all the medicine in.
"Um..."
After being injected, Peter's rat eyes bulged and then shrank suddenly. His veins popped out. He grunted a few times incoherently and fainted again.
But his blood pressure went up, his heart regained strength, and his vitality improved a bit.
"That's enough revenge for tonight! Harry!"
Dudley said, then opened the spatial passage again and locked the unconscious Peter Pettigrew back into the sturdy cage in his Personal Space.
He also used magic to gather the large amount of Peter's blood splashed on the cross and the ground and stored it in his Personal Space.
A wizard's blood, especially that of a wizard like Peter with a certain level of strength, was a good material and would come in handy later.
...
Dudley took Harry and temporarily left the Interrogation Room created by the Room of Requirement. They first returned to the Gryffindor boys' dormitory. The portrait of the Fat Lady, who guarded the entrance, let the two brothers in without even asking for the password.
Dudley's special privilege was really useful just like that.
"Harry, it's getting late! You should rest first! You have classes tomorrow morning. You can't be listless!"
Dudley whispered to soothe his cousin.
Harry silently changed into his pajamas, obediently climbed onto his wooden bed, and fell into a deep sleep without asking Dudley about his plan for the second half of the night. He trusted his cousin completely.
"Safe and Sound Guard!"
Dudley left the Gryffindor common room again. Before leaving, he cast a powerful protective spell on the dormitory where he and Harry were.
The Safe and Sound Guard magic can include a certain area of space in the protection range. If a hostile target uses an offensive spell within the protected area, the spell will deflect involuntarily and fail to hit the target.
The portrait of the Fat Lady at the entrance of the Gryffindor common room yawned helplessly, watching Dudley, who looked almost like a transparent person, slip out again.
Come on! What decent wizard goes on a night patrol twice in one night? And it's the first night of the semester!
What's even more absurd is that Hogwarts gave this wizard special privileges, so she had to doze off and leave the door open for Dudley.
Dudley didn't care about the resentment in the portrait of the Fat Lady's eyes. He went on a night patrol again for a necessary goal and reason.
"Hogwarts, show me the way! I want to find the caretaker, Argus Filch!"
Dudley firmly held this thought in his heart. Then, he once again felt the vague guidance.
He was under the Invisibility Charm, following the guidance, walking down from the eighth floor of the castle. Along the way, the movable and disappearing castle stairs cooperated extremely well, allowing Dudley to quickly reach the location of the hunched and old caretaker by the shortest route.
Filch was holding a lantern and patrolling the corridor on the fourth floor of the castle at this moment. His pet cat, Mrs. Norris, was pacing not far from him, accompanying him.
[Argus Filch - A Lonely Squib (D-rank)]
[Details of the Regret Event: Argus Filch is the loyal caretaker of Hogwarts Castle, a strict administrator who upholds the school rules of Hogwarts, and a lonely Squib.
He has dedicated his whole life to Hogwarts, but he can't cast magic like the others in Hogwarts.
Filch cares about this very much. He prohibits students from casting magic in the corridors because the corridors are his territory as a Squib.
He likes to torment wizards who violate the school rules, punishing them to do some tedious chores without using magic to satisfy his jealousy.
He refuses to have meals at the faculty seats in the Great Hall every day because he can't do magic and doesn't have a wand. He can't just tap an empty plate with a wand and get the delicious food served by the house-elves.
He can only catch some fish in the Black Lake and secretly fry the fish in his office to fill his stomach. He shares the food with his pet cat, Mrs. Norris, to seek comfort and relieve his loneliness.]
]
Dudley, invisible, stood at a distance from Filch and Mrs. Norris, silently watching them and re-reading the System's previous prompt.
To be honest, he didn't have strong feelings towards Filch, not to mention liking him.
Filch was an ordinary man full of pride and jealousy.
Filch had no sense of right and wrong, with an evil-minded way of thinking and a penchant for torturing people. He would obey whoever was the headmaster, regardless of the orders' reasonableness.
In the original story, when Umbridge, that despised pink-skinned toad, was the headmaster, Filch was extremely happy and willingly became Umbridge's lapdog because Umbridge allowed him to torture students at will.
However, Filch was not a person without love. He hated students who could do magic, but he deeply loved Hogwarts, the castle that taught magic. Secondly, he was very affectionate towards his pet cat, Mrs. Norris, and regarded her as his emotional sustenance.
So, as long as Filch didn't harm him, his family, or his friends, Dudley was willing to resolve Filch's regret event at no or low cost for the sake of the System reward and gaining an extra subordinate.
Thinking of this, Dudley started to move.
He already had a conjecture about how to turn a Squib into a normal wizard. Now what he needed was...
To verify the conjecture!
