Chapter 116: The Levitation Charm or the Buffalo Summoning Spell?

Another ten - plus minutes later, Dudley and his mates took their seats in the spell - casting classes classroom on the fourth floor of the Castle.

In this class, the first - years from Gryffindor would have the class together with those from Slytherin.

The Slytherin first - years were chatting about the latest amorous news of their dean. On the Gryffindor side, Ron and Seamus, who loved gossips, were pestering Dudley to tell them what had happened in the morning.

Such gossip was very popular in both the Muggle community and the wizarding community, and it spread equally fast.

Dudley embellished the story as he told it to his mates. While doing so, his eyes, which were observing the situation around, caught sight of the Malfoy Trio sitting across from him.

As usual, Crabbe and Goyle were stupid and reckless, but they were extremely afraid of Dudley. Once they noticed Dudley's gaze, one turned his head and the other shifted his body sideways, not daring to look Dudley in the eye at all.

Malfoy was a bit better. Facing Dudley's gaze, he didn't dodge but looked back with a very conflicted look.

Dudley saw a bit of awe, a bit of relief, a bit of eagerness to prove himself, as well as a bit of arrogance and an unyielding attitude in Malfoy's eyes.

"Draco, you've grown up!"

Such a thought popped up in Dudley's mind, and then he shifted his gaze.

Next to the lecture desk in the middle of the classroom, there was no one there for the moment. There were only several big stacks of books that were used to increase Professor Flitwick's height.

Another ten - plus minutes passed.

The short professor with goblin bloodline, the dueling champion - Filius Flitwick, finally arrived at the last minute before the class started.

He was no longer young. He was woken up in the middle of the night to lift the incantation on Eris, so he didn't sleep well. To make it through the first class in the morning, he went to Professor Snape. Professor Snape was in a very bad mood at the moment, but he still begged for a bottle of Befuddlement - Revelling Draught to boost his spirit.

That was why he almost missed the class.

"Alright, students, let's officially start the class."

Professor Flitwick hopped up with his short legs and nimbly jumped onto the platform made of stacked books to increase his height. He spoke up to quieten the noisy class.

"Today is everyone's first spell - casting classes. We need to learn a spell that is the most basic and frequently used in daily life for wizards - the Levitation Charm.

The incantation for this spell is: Wingardium Leviosa! Pay attention to the pronunciation and the wand - waving gestures of mine! Let's all try together and see if you can make the feathers on your desks float."

Professor Flitwick didn't talk nonsense and got straight to the point. However, his way of teaching was a bit too dry.

About twenty first - years from Gryffindor and Slytherin all picked up their wand and tried to cast the Levitation Charm by imitating Professor Flitwick's pronunciation and wand - waving gestures.

Harry succeeded in casting the spell at the first try because he had already learned this incantation.

He successfully got points from Professor Flitwick.

A few seconds later, Hermione also successfully cast the Levitation Charm. She controlled her feather to fly even higher than Harry's.

This really surprised Professor Flitwick, and Gryffindor got another five points.

Ron, sitting next to Hermione, saw the two feathers in the air racing neck and neck. Maybe his competitive spirit flared up, or perhaps it was some other inexplicable feeling. For no reason, he suddenly felt extremely restless.

He waved Charlie's old, frayed and feather - exposed wand wildly. The incantations he shouted became more and more hasty and out of tune:

"Yu - jia - di~le ao wei sa!"

"Wei - ga - dun~le wei ao sa!"

"..."

"Wen - jia - da~le si wei sa!"

At first, although Ron's incantations were incorrect, they had no effect at all. But just as Hermione, who was sitting beside him, couldn't stand it anymore and was about to offer guidance and correction, the last incantation Ron shouted suddenly took effect.

Suddenly, a distorted spatial wave rippled in front of the broken tip of Ron's wand.

Dudley, who was sitting not far away and had long noticed Ron's strange state, sensed a great danger. A red light from the Strength Enhancement incantation quickly spread over his body. With a big leap, he flew over the desks and rushed towards the area of spatial anomaly.

It was all in the blink of an eye.

In an instant, a black buffalo charged out of the spatial wave at full speed. Before the students in the class could even react in their astonishment, the buffalo's head rammed straight into Dudley's right palm, which was glowing a dazzling red light.

The next second, Dudley forcibly stopped the sturdy buffalo.

Only then did the exclamations of the students in the class ring out.

"Moo - o - o!"

The buffalo let out a crazy roar. Suddenly arriving in a strange environment and having its charging momentum forcefully halted by an unknown and powerful being, it had gone completely berserk.

"What an awful noise!"

Dudley's expression turned cold. The red light on his right hand flared up even more. He increased his strength again and forced the buffalo's head down. At the same time, he clenched his left fist, also glowing red, and punched out forcefully.

"Bang!"

A short and powerful sound of a shattered skull echoed. The crazy buffalo could no longer make a sound and fell into eternal slumber.

Dudley casually grabbed one of the buffalo's horns and flung the huge buffalo carcass to a relatively empty area near the classroom door.

Then he turned around and stared directly at Ron:

"Ron, your mind is wandering! You actually turned the Levitation Charm into the Buffalo Summoning Spell!"

"I... I know I was wrong."

Ron was scared out of his wits by what had just happened. His face was full of terror, and he was almost in tears.

Hearing this, Dudley shook his head: "No, you're not wrong. You just have the wrong direction in your efforts.

You need to look deep into your own heart, figure out what you truly want, and then think about what you should do to correctly and smoothly obtain what you want.

Finally, you should be humble and accept all kind help with an open mind, instead of shutting yourself off."

"Dudley, what you said is too profound. I don't understand."

The fear on Ron's face had faded a lot, but his features were all wrinkled. Obviously, Dudley's words had fried his brain.

"You'll understand. I hope you don't understand too late."

Dudley added two more philosophical remarks. It wasn't that he didn't want to explain things simply and directly, but some things and emotions were in a hazy, nascent stage.

The parties involved are just a few eleven-year-old children. Their psychological resilience is definitely not as strong as that of adults. If he were to directly lay out his speculations and assumptions, the group would part ways unhappily.

"Ooh! Ah! Merlin's beard! Teaching Assistant Dursley! Are you okay?"

Seeing that the unexpected situation had been resolved, Professor Flitwick finally found an opportunity to chime in.

His reaction was a little slower than Dudley's. By the time he realized he should step in, Dudley had already taken control of the situation.

So, he didn't interfere in Dudley's fight with the wild buffalo. He had full confidence in Dudley's strength.

On the first night of the semester, in the Great Hall, he had already recognized Dudley's extraordinary qualities.

"I'm fine, Professor Flitwick. It's just an ordinary wild buffalo. It'll be a great addition to the kitchen's dishes."

Dudley said casually, subtly showing off once again.
