The simultaneous onslaught of internal and external troubles made Eris extremely anxious and panicked.
But she knew she couldn't just sit around and wait.
Eris quickly came up with a response.
Immediately, her hand reached for the bitten spot on her left leg. Through her pants, she felt a palm-sized living creature covered in black bristles with eight segmented limbs.
It was a juvenile Acromantula!
Eris made a judgment, and her pretty face turned deathly pale, completely devoid of any color.
Acromantulas are venomous!
Without any time to think, in a moment of desperation, Eris quickly released her magic power to protect her palm, then grabbed the Acromantula and squeezed with all her might.
Blue spider blood immediately oozed out, staining Eris's trouser leg, the lining of her robe hem, and her palm.
She crushed it to death with her bare hands!
"Is that one of the professors over there? Why aren't you answering?"
In the distance, Dumbledore asked again.
This time, his tone was more guarded.
"It's me! It's me! Eris Hunter! I just twisted my ankle, but I'm fine now."
Forcing herself to stay calm, Eris lifted the Invisibility Charm on herself. As she responded to Dumbledore, she stepped out from the corridor corner where she had been hiding and appeared in front of Dumbledore.
Her wide wizard's robe concealed the strange situation on Eris's left leg.
"Oh, it's Professor Eris! What are you doing here? Are you planning to set up a magic obstacle here?"
Dumbledore's tone softened a bit, but his sharp old eyes still revealed a hint of scrutiny and suspicion. His acting was truly on point.
"No! Professor Dumbledore, I came to tell you that it's almost dinner time, and the other professors are ready to go back."
Eris gave the best answer she could think of at the moment.
Very 'fortunately', this answer convinced Dumbledore, and the look of suspicion and scrutiny in his eyes faded.
"Professor Eris, you really didn't have to come all the way over here. I've already heard the voices of the other professors. I just didn't answer because I was busy setting up the final obstacle.
I was just about to head out!"
Dumbledore smiled gently and walked slowly up to Eris. "Let's go out together!"
"Uh... okay!"
Eris forced a smile, and with great reluctance, she secretly glanced at the cave in the distance before following Dumbledore out.
She still hadn't given up on the idea of stealing The Philosopher's Stone today and planned to find an opportunity to come back later.
For this reason, she concealed the fact that she had been bitten by an Acromantula and might have been poisoned.
Because if this got out (became known), Dumbledore and the other professors would surely rush her to the school infirmary for treatment as soon as possible.
There would be no way she could get The Philosopher's Stone today.
If that happened, Voldemort's main soul would surely seize upon the mistake of her revealing her whereabouts just now and make her suffer that living hell all over again.
Eris definitely didn't want to go through that again.
She secretly weighed the pros and cons. The venom of a juvenile Acromantula wasn't too potent. Given her current physical state, she could withstand it without losing her life.
After getting what she wanted, it wouldn't be too late to return to the school infirmary for treatment.
Dudley, who was hiding invisibly in another corridor of the maze, waited until Eris and Dumbledore had walked far away.
He silently made himself visible and walked to the spot where Eris had been hiding.
Here, there was a small gap formed between a vine and the stone wall.
The crushed body of the Acromantula was right there.
Dudley gave it a cold glance and didn't bother about it.
Just now, he had used the Imperius Curse to control this Acromantula, took the opportunity to let it bite Eris, and made a perfect cooperation with Dumbledore.
He had achieved part of the operation's purpose.
But Eris still had the mood to conceal her injuries, which meant she must still have ill intentions.
Dudley thought that the injuries and poison on Eris were obviously not enough.
He had to inflict more harm on her.
Moreover, this time, Dudley might not have to put in much effort.
Eris, oh Eris! You made up such a reasonable excuse, but how could you forget to use the Cleaning Spell?
Dudley let out a soft chuckle in his heart, stepped forward, walked around several corridors of the maze, and 'accidentally' met Dumbledore and Eris openly. He pretended to have a few words with them and then left the maze with the two of them and returned to the entrance.
During this period, perhaps Eris was flustered and nervous and didn't think things through. Or maybe she was afraid that suddenly using a Cleaning Spell would be too abrupt and arouse the suspicion of Dumbledore and Dudley. So, she never got rid of the blue spider blood on the inside of her robe and on her trouser legs.
She just casually wiped the blue blood off her palm inside her robe sleeve.
After leaving the maze, almost everyone had arrived.
The only one who was missing was Snape.
Eris' face lit up. She quickly said to everyone, "I'll go back into the maze to look for Professor Snape. If you're in a hurry, you can go back to the Castle first."
After saying that, Eris was about to turn around and enter the maze again.
She didn't notice at all that there was a slight commotion among the Acromantula colony waiting outside the maze.
Many adult Acromantulas had smelled the blood of their juvenile kin on Eris.
If they didn't know that they were no match for these powerful wizards in front of them, they would probably have swarmed up and torn Eris to pieces and devoured her by now.
"Professor Eris, we can wait for a while. Otherwise, if you go in and Professor Snape comes out, it might waste even more time."
Dumbledore stopped Eris and gave a very reasonable reason.
Eris froze.
Professor McGonagall and Professor Sprout stepped forward and grabbed Eris, looking at her with disappointment. They reminded her to be more reserved and not always go after things so aggressively, as it might backfire.
Eris had no reason to go back into the maze alone for the time being.
She had to wait silently with everyone else.
From time to time, she used the Loud Voice Spell to shout a few times into the maze.
Soon, Snape, with a gloomy face and saying nothing, appeared at the entrance of the maze and joined the group.
This guy with a poker face never used an amplification charm to reply, causing the other professors to worry needlessly for a while. He was really irritating.
So, after Snape rejoined the group, everyone except Eris gave him the cold shoulder.
Dumbledore briefly informed Aragog and the Acromantula colony about the current situation, then led everyone on the way back.
After the wizards left, the Acromantula colony immediately fell into disarray and scattered. Some went back to their new home in the maze, some went out to hunt forest animals for food, and some secretly followed Dumbledore's group to observe the situation.
Hardly any spiders still cared about the old and feeble Aragog.
At this moment, Aragog was like a used and discarded rag.
