"What's with your reaction?"
Iril asked in confusion.
"Do you know Frau Knight?"
"Wha…!! Of course not!!"
Serena denied, quickly averting her gaze from Iril's eyes.
"Really?"
Iril still wasn't convinced by her friend's answer.
"Of course!!"
Serena replied firmly, trying to dispel Iril's suspicion.
"I don't know Frau Knight, but I know his name because, in the future, he will be your husband—famous for his overwhelming love for you, Ril," Serena added in her heart.
"Alright then."
Iril finally relented.
"My cousin is really busy, so he often takes a long time to reply to messages."
"It's okay, I understand."
Meanwhile, at the West family's residence…
David slammed the door as he entered his home.
"What's wrong? Why are you so angry?"
Mrs. West, David's mother, asked.
"That brat threatened me, Mother!"
David replied furiously.
"You mean Serena?"
"WHO ELSE COULD IT BE IF NOT HER?!!"
David shouted.
Mrs. West immediately flinched in fear.
Even though David had never hit her, everyone in the family knew he had a tendency for violence, especially when he was angry or drunk.
"What's going on?"
Mr. West emerged from his study after hearing David's yelling.
Sensing his father's presence, David tried to calm himself down.
"Sit down and talk properly,"
Mr. West ordered.
David sat on the couch, joining his mother, and after a moment, Mr. West sat down as well.
"Now, tell me why you're so angry."
"That damn girl threatened me,"
David repeated when his father asked.
Mr. West furrowed his brows at David's words.
Serena had always been warm, respectful, and obedient toward David—why had she suddenly changed?
What was the reason?
"Tell me everything from the beginning—how did you meet Serena today?"
Mr. West wanted to analyze what had caused her sudden change in attitude.
Though still upset, David began recounting the incident without hiding anything.
"Since when did Serena's attitude toward you change?"
Mrs. West asked this time.
"I don't know… maybe yesterday??"
David replied, confused.
"Yesterday, when I asked to meet and talk, she was still the same as usual, but then…"
David suddenly paused as a thought crossed his mind.
"What?"
Mr. West was curious about why David had stopped talking.
"Something strange happened with Serena yesterday. At first, she was normal, but then, in the middle of our conversation, she suddenly changed."
"What makes you think she changed?"
"Out of nowhere, she seemed indifferent toward me. And the weirdest thing? She asked me what date it was yesterday."
Silence fell as they all began to think about what might have caused Serena's change.
"So, what should we do?"
Mrs. West finally asked.
"Getting back together is going to be extremely difficult now. Not only does Elena refuse to reconcile, but now Serena is also completely unwilling to help you,"
Mr. West responded.
"Then what about the money that person already gave us?"
Mrs. West started to worry. When else would they get that much money without having to work hard?
"Relax, Mother. That person only asked for Elena to never return to her family. Reconciliation isn't the only way to achieve that,"
David said.
Then, with a sly expression, he added,
"There are plenty of ways to make sure that whore never goes back."
Seeing the look on her son's face, Mrs. West knew he was planning something dangerous. She wanted to stop him, but when she glanced at her husband, she swallowed her words.
From Mr. West's expression, she could tell he fully supported whatever David was about to do.
"This is all your fault, Elena! You should have just obeyed when my son asked to reconcile. If anything happens to you now, don't blame us."
Mrs. West muttered in her heart.
