8. The Legendary Frau Knight

"S!! Dinner is ready!"

Elena called out.

In her room, Serena was rereading her college materials. Even though she had already graduated in her previous life, she was now forced to relearn subjects she had long forgotten. It was frustrating.

Hearing her mother's call, Serena left her room and walked to the dining table. Upon seeing Darian there, she let out a long sigh.

Maybe because she had never fallen in love or felt loved by the opposite sex ,whether in her past life or this one, Serena really couldn't understand why Darian was always glued to Elena. Any chance he got, he would spend it with her.

"Why are you here again?"

Serena grumbled as she took a seat at the table.

"Hey! Why are you asking that? Didn't we have a heart-to-heart talk this afternoon?"

Darian protested, pretending to be hurt.

Serena just rolled her eyes at his antics.

"What did you two talk about?"

Elena asked curiously.

She knew how Serena felt about Darian before, so it was surprising that they had talked. Even though her relationship with Serena had improved, Elena never forced her daughter to accept Darian's presence.

"Honey… she finally gave us her blessing."

Darian answered proudly.

"Really?!"

Elena asked, turning to Serena for confirmation.

Seeing the hopeful look in her mother's eyes, Serena could only nod.

Elena immediately smiled with joy.

Watching her mother's happiness, Serena's expression softened. She could see it clearly now, the love between Elena and Darian was deep and real.

"Ugh... Could you two not stare at each other with so much love right in front of me?"

Serena complained playfully.

Knowing she was just joking, Elena and Darian burst into laughter. The dinner table was filled with warmth.

Serena once again felt how foolish she had been for not realizing earlier, beside Darian her mother became a woman glowing with happiness.

"You look very happy, Mom… and it suits you a lot."

Serena thought to herself.

Today was the day Serena would meet and talk to Frau. Last night, she had received a message from Iril saying that Frau had agreed to see her. Serena had asked Iril to accompany her, though she wanted to speak privately with Frau when the time came.

Iril, being easygoing, agreed without any complaints.

"Hi! Can we meet with Mr. Knight?"

Iril greeted the receptionist.

"Do you have an appointment?"

"Yes, under the name Iril Shield."

Hearing Iril's name, the receptionist immediately pointed them to the elevator leading to Frau's office.

When they arrived at his floor, Serena was slightly taken aback. The building didn't look like a typical detective agency , it felt more like a large corporate office. She started doubting what Frau's real job was.

"Ms. Shield?"

A secretary called out.

"That's me."

Iril replied.

The secretary then led them to an office, knocking on the door before opening it. When a voice from inside gave permission to enter, she gestured for Iril and Serena to go in.

"Iril..."

Frau greeted with a warm smile upon seeing them.

"And this must be Ms. Shine."

He added, looking at Serena.

Hearing how he addressed Iril differently from her, Serena who already knew that Frau had feelings for Iril was unsurprised. But for Iril, who had no clue, it felt a little odd, though she didn't question it.

Seeing Frau in person, Serena found it hard to believe. In her previous life, she had known about him from the news and social media , he was famous for his success and his deep devotion to his wife, Iril.

"So this is the legendary Frau Knight... He really is as handsome as they say."

Serena thought.

"Please, have a seat."

Without hesitation, Serena and Iril sat down. Shortly after, the secretary placed drinks and snacks on the table before leaving the room.

"So, how can I help you?"

Frau started the conversation.

"Actually, it's not me who needs your help, Mr. Knight. It's my friend, Serena."

Iril answered.

"Oh, is that so?"

Frau seemed a bit surprised and slightly disappointed , though he quickly tried to hide it. However, Serena noticed his reaction. She wasn't sure if Iril did.

"Before anything else, I want to ask, Mr. Knight , can you really find information about someone?"

Serena knew her question sounded silly, considering they were already here. But she couldn't help it ,everything about this place, from the building to the employees to the office interior, didn't seem like an investigation agency.

Hearing that, Frau let out a small chuckle.

"Don't worry, Ms. Shine. Even though our main focus is IT, we do have a department that specializes in gathering information. Only a select few know about it."

He answered professionally.

Serena understood. Without Iril's connections, she wouldn't have known about this at all, and Frau probably wouldn't have agreed to meet her.

She glanced at Iril, who quickly got the hint.

"I'll wait outside so you two can talk freely."

Iril said as she stood up and walked out.

Frau slightly furrowed his brows at that.

"I know you wanted Iril to stay, but I asked her to leave because this conversation is for us only."

Frau fell silent, his gaze locked onto Serena. She held his stare without flinching.

"So... you know about my feelings for Iril?"

He finally asked.

"If someone observes closely, it's not hard to tell."

Serena replied.

"But I'm afraid Iril might not realize it."

"What do you mean ?"

Frau asked, genuinely curious.

Serena remained quiet, simply staring at him. She knew he was trying to gather information about Iril. Frau was intelligent, sharp-minded , but when it came to someone he liked, he seemed just like anyone else.

"I guess they're right... Love makes people blind and foolish."

She thought.

"Mr. Knight, we're not here to talk about Iril."

Serena stated flatly.

"Ah…"

Frau immediately fell silent.
