Renji woke up to the sound of someone chanting.
His head was pounding. His body felt stiff. The air smelled of damp stone and… something metallic.
As his vision cleared, he realized he wasn't in Aika's living room anymore.
He was underground.
A dim, flickering candle revealed a stone basement. Strange symbols were drawn on the floor, forming a giant summoning circle. The walls were covered in grotesque paintings of creatures with twisted faces and hollow eyes.
Chains rattled.
Renji tried to move—only to realize his wrists and ankles were bound.
"What… the hell?"
Footsteps echoed.
Aika stood in front of him, now wearing a black robe with golden embroidery. Her usual calm expression was gone, replaced with something… terrifying.
A smile.
"Finally…" she whispered. "After so many failures. After so many sacrifices… it worked."
Renji's body tensed. "Aika…? What is this? What the hell is going on?!"
She ignored him and raised her hands. The symbols on the floor began to glow. A deep, guttural sound rumbled from beneath, shaking the ground.
Renji's breath caught in his throat.
Something was coming.
The circle beneath him burned with crimson light. A searing pain spread through his body, as if something inside him was changing. His muscles twisted. His bones cracked. His skin pulsed with an unnatural heat.
He let out a scream.
His fingers curled into claws. His pupils turned into slits. His breath became ragged, no longer human.
Something ancient awakened inside him.
Then—
Silence.
Renji lay motionless, panting heavily. His body was foreign, different… powerful. His vision was sharper, his senses heightened.
Aika stepped forward, eyes gleaming with excitement.
"It's perfect," she whispered, placing a hand on his chest. "You are… my masterpiece."
Renji's body twitched. His mind was hazy, struggling between fear and an overwhelming hunger.
"What… did you do to me?" he rasped.
Aika's smile widened.
"I turned you into something greater."
She leaned in close.
"You are now a Monster Carrier."
