Jeanne then looked warily around the room before taking a white spray bottle from the medicine cabinet and spraying it all over the room. Soon the room was filled with the pungent smell of disinfectant.
"If I can smell a stranger, don't you think Alpha can't?" Jeanne loaded the white spray bottle into the medicine cabinet, "The smell of the disinfectant water will dispel the scent of the stranger, so Alpha won't notice."
"Thank you, Jeanne." Amy was filled with gratitude to Jeanne.
"I need you to open all the windows so the odor can evaporate quickly." Jeanne said, as she started for the window, and Amy hurried into the bedroom.
Amy looked out of the bedroom window when she opened it and saw that there was no sign of Taylor around the house, so he was probably gone. Now Amy's heart was at ease.
Next, Jeanne gave Amy her usual physical checkup. Amy was very uneasy. Why should Jeanne venture to help her? Could Jeanne have had any other intention?
Jeanne made no mention of what had just happened, but questioned Amy carefully about her health and whether she was eating properly. At the end of the examination, Jeanne asked Amy, "Would you like to go for a walk in the garden?"
Amy nodded that she did not want to be cooped up in the house all day, either.
"I'll walk you then!" Jeanne said, as she closed the lid of the medicine chest.
Slowly they made their way down the path in the direction of the garden. The sun felt warm on Amy's body, the passing birds ceased to sing in the branches of the trees, and the air was fragrant with the scent of apple blossoms.
"About what just happened." Amy stopped and said to Jeanne, "I want to talk about..."
"If you don't want to talk about it, then don't." A ray of sunlight poured over Jeanne's light blonde hair as she said in a soft tone, "Everyone has their secrets and I'm not one to talk too much. So you will not have to worry about me snitching on Alpha. But I must remind you that Alpha does not like it when people have private meetings with other people behind his back. There are serious consequences for those who betray him."
"You seem to know him well?" Amy asked curiously.
"There is no one in the world who knows Alpha Gavin better than I do." Jeanne smiled bitterly, "We used lived together for a long time."
Had Jeanne ever been one of Alpha's surrogates? Or an old flame of his?
Jeanne looked at Amy's puzzled look as she explained, "Don't get me wrong, I'm his sister. Although we were not born to the same mother."
"You're Alpha Gavin 's sister?" Amy was surprised, "But you don't look like brother and sister at all."
How could a man as cold as Alpha Gavin have such a gentle sister?
"Everyone doesn't believe it, but we are indeed brothers and sisters. After Alpha Gavin 's mother died, his father married his mother's sister, my mother." Jeanne looked up at the vast sky, "We are brother and sister but we have an average relationship. Always putting Alpha's position first, he always acted cold towards affection."
"Then why are you helping me?" Why would Jeanne risk her life to help Amy if she was Alpha's sister?
"I don't know." Jeanne looked at Amy, "My intuition tells me that you are a kind girl. Maybe you have a pain in the ass that you have no choice but to do."
"Thank you, Jeanne." Amy was ashamed of her earlier suspicion of Jeanne's motives. It turns out that her purpose in helping Amy was not what Amy thought it was, and that it was Amy who was mistaken.
"You're welcome." Jeanne said with a smile, "Let's take a break in the garden."
There was a little round table and chairs in the centre of the garden, and Amy and Jeanne sat down on them. They chatted for a while before Jeanne told Amy that the house on the east side was Alpha's house for official business. The house where he and Luna lived was on the west side of the estate, but Alpha and Luna only spent time together in the west house on full moon days and special holidays. Most of the time, Alpha Gavin lives alone on the east side of the house.
"He never let other women into his room. Those women used to have to sleep in the guest room." Jeanne gave Amy a meaningful look, "You're the first."
So, Amy is the first woman to enter Alpha Gavin 's private domain. A slave? It was unbelievable.
"Perhaps you have a special meaning for him." Jeanne said.
Amy's reason for existence is to give Alpha Gavin an heir. But it was a secret Amy could not tell anyone. It is difficult to imagine what the servants at the Hall would have thought of Amy if they had known that she was staying in her master's room.
Amy should by now have become the public enemy of every one on the estate.
"Maybe Alpha just took me in out of pity." Amy said.
Jeanne smiled slightly at Amy's reasoning, and there was a hint of complexity in her smile. Had she guessed something?
At that moment, Jeanne's phone rang. She got up, turned her back on Amy, and answered the phone. A minute later, Jeanne said to Amy with a serious look on her face, "There's been a fight in the chamber and someone's been hurt. I have to leave now."
"Just go about your business." Amy said, "I can go to my room by myself."
"Call me if you are uncomfortable in any way." Jeanne said, "See you next time."
As Jeanne's departing back disappeared from Amy's view, Amy felt a burning sensation behind her, as if some one were staring at her from behind.
"You're the new slave?" A woman's clear, scornful voice came from behind Amy, and she turned hastily.
The woman in front of her was dressed in a rich lilac dress, with a sparkling diamond necklace around her neck and bright red nail polish on every finger nail. Her long red hair was coiled gracefully and regally about her head. Linda, the housekeeper, stood demurely beside the woman in black, her face as gloomy as ever.
The strange woman before her, therefore, was supposed to be Alpha Gavin 's wife——Lydia.
Lydia looked at Amy with a contemptuous gaze, only to see the corners of her mouth curl up a little to reveal a vicious smile.
"Take this slave away from me."
When Lydia had finished speaking, some strong men came out of the woods, and their eyes were fierce, as if they meant to kill Amy.
