Chapter 3: Showing One's Edge for the First Time

Kyle piloted the battered spaceship, dashing around like a startled bird in the asteroid belt. The spaceship's outer shell was covered with charred marks from the previous battles. Sparks occasionally burst out from the damaged circuits, making crackling noises. On the dashboard, various indicator lights flashed wildly, and alarm sirens blared one after another, as if playing a tragic elegy for the desperate situation Kyle was about to face.

Behind the asteroid belt, Rain led the Federal Fleet to advance cautiously. The fleet's spaceships slowly maneuvered through the huge asteroids. The strong searchlights swept back and forth in the darkness, trying to catch Kyle's trail. Rain stood on the command deck of the flagship, his face so gloomy that it seemed as if water could drip from it. His eyes were fixed tightly on the front, with a hint of anxiety and anger in his eyes.

"Speed up the search!" Rain shouted into the communication channel. "That kid must be around here. He can't have gone far!"

At this time, Kyle's spaceship was running out of fuel, and its speed was getting slower and slower. Looking at the constantly flashing red lights on the dashboard, Kyle was filled with despair. Just when he felt helpless, a small Federal reconnaissance spaceship detected his trail.

"Report, sir! The target has been locked!" the pilot of the reconnaissance spaceship exclaimed excitedly.

Hearing the report, a fierce glint flashed in Rain's eyes. "Good. Prepare to attack!"

The Federal Fleet quickly adjusted its formation, and several spaceships surrounded Kyle's direction. Through the porthole of the spaceship, Kyle saw the approaching Federal spaceships, and his heart tightened suddenly. A weak stardust energy wave shot out from his hand and met the energy beam fired by the Federal spaceship in the air. The energy wave and the beam collided with each other, making a dull explosion, generating a strong light and shockwave. The pilot of the Federal spaceship was startled by this unexpected counterattack and quickly maneuvered the spaceship to dodge.

The agents started to use cutting tools to open the spaceship's hatch. Sparks flew everywhere, and the hatch was gradually cut open. Kyle was extremely anxious. He kept trying to stimulate the stardust power. Sweat dripped from his forehead, wetting his collar.

The Federal Fleet began to adjust its course, trying to go around the asteroids and continue chasing Kyle. Meanwhile, Kyle piloted the spaceship in the gap and moved forward in an unknown direction.
