Fear washed over me like a tidal wave, and I instinctively wanted to run away. Then I remembered he had forgotten all about me.
After calming myself down, I adjusted my mask and asked him what he wanted.
Alec narrowed his eyes as he looked me over, confusion evident in his gaze. "They all say you're my ex-girlfriend, and that we were together for five years."
A few seconds later, he let out a derisive laugh.
"How could I have ever been interested in such an ordinary woman like you?"
Without the filter of five years of emotions, I was now just a stranger to him, and the unfamiliarity was unmistakable in his tone.
I didn't respond to that, instead changing the subject. "You pulled strings to force me out of my job. What will it take for you to leave me alone?"
