Darling lost at cards and pawned me off to Felicity, the socialite of New York City.
She locked me in an iron cage, leaving me bloody and torn by vicious dogs, enduring endless mockery.

Before I passed out, I asked Darling, "Why is it me again? You're the one who signed that betting agreement to help Granger."

With that, she took Granger's arm - her male bestie - and left, chatting and laughing.

Mother-in-law shook her head repeatedly. "I've warned you so many times, but you wouldn't listen."


"It's not like that! Felicity must have taken Soren's phone away!"


Callie's eyes welled up with tears as she hurriedly dialed Felicity's number.


"Soren's in the shower. He can't come to the phone right now."

Callie was trembling with anger, her words coming out in a jumble.

"Besides, don't you hate Soren? After all, you were busy flirting with Granger while he was covered in blood."


Each sentence cut deeper than the last, like two knives tearing Callie's heart to shreds.
