Chapter 8

Damien finally rushed home.

The first thing he saw upon entering was a court summons.

Next to it was a note:

"The divorce proceedings are entirely in the hands of my lawyer. Don't try to contact me."

Only then did he realize that I had decided to leave him the day I discovered his affair.

Unwilling to believe what he was seeing, he frantically searched the house for any trace of me.

But he found that everything belonging to me had completely vanished.

In his frenzied search, Damien knocked over several items. A jewelry box rolled to a stop by his feet.

Recognizing the familiar box, he picked it up with trembling hands.

He lifted the lid to reveal the wedding ring he had personally designed, with my name engraved on the inner band by his own hand.

"You didn't even want our wedding rings..."

Damien fell to his knees, clutching his chest, laughing and crying:

"Aria, how can you be so heartless? Have you forgotten the vows we made when we exchanged these rings?"
