Chapter 70: Plan Postponed

The sun gradually sank below the horizon, and the fiery hues of the sunset slowly faded away.

The tides began to calm.

Pidgeot, with its soaked and weary body, landed beside Silas, panting heavily.

Silas patted its wing with a satisfied smile and immediately took out a towel to give it a quick wipe.

In the two-plus hours of training, Pidgeot had made visibly significant improvements in its control over the Brave Bird move.

At first, it could barely break through the waves, and even lost its balance afterward, making Silas's heart jump in alarm.

After all, this was his first time using nature's power for training unlike the usual controlled training with machines.

By the end, however, Pidgeot was already able to split a section of the waves, carving open a path with the energy of Brave Bird and allowing itself to fly through smoothly.

Of course, Silas knew this was just the beginning. Pidgeot's mastery was still far from sufficient.

At best, it had only reached the most basic stage. The next goal was to make Pidgeot capable of shattering an entire wave with Brave Bird just like that Magnezone had done earlier.

After accomplishing that, the goal would shift to further compressing the energy of Brave Bird, concentrating it around the surface of its body, and instantly piercing through and destroying at least three waves in succession.

That final step wouldn't just demand precise energy control it would also require excellent balance, speed, and timing.

Silas only hoped that during the month and a half he planned to stay here, Pidgeot would do its best and reach whatever level it could.

Yes, he intended to stay in this place for about a month and a half, extending his original plans.

Although Roggenrola had a unique physiology that allowed it to grow rapidly as long as it had sufficient energy, it was still unrealistic to expect it to evolve into Boldore in such a short time.

Not to mention, he also had to begin preparations for its future evolution into Gigalith.

As for Combusken there was even less to say. Although it was only a few levels away from evolving, it wasn't the kind of Pokémon that evolved just by eating and waiting. It needed specialized training in other areas.

Similarly, he had to make preliminary preparations for its post-evolution form as well.

Judging by the time it had taken for Pidgeotto to evolve into Pidgeot, a full month sounded about right.

Hmm, to put it in simple numbers, he still had 6.9 million PokéDollars on hand, but if he did absolutely nothing for this next month, he would likely end up in debt by a million or two.

And that was only possible because he had previously spent eight million on a supply of special rocks for Roggenrola barely enough to last two months.

No wonder people always said being a professional Trainer was expensive.

If not for the 50% discount from Pewter Gym and the highest-efficiency training method he developed with Zero, his expenses would have been far higher.

By his calculations, a normal Trainer trying to achieve the same results would probably need to spend over 60 million.

As for expecting the same results by throwing less than 20 million into the mix? Please. Dream on.

He had a cheat, and he was owning it. That's just how badass he was. That's just how he rolled.

Of course, another reason he could afford to stay this long was because he had just checked the Bounty Hunter Guild's mission board.

He discovered that perhaps due to the congregation of Trainers in this area, many high-level missions had their first postings here. There were plenty of them and decent profit to be made.

As for challenging Gyms and collecting badges to enter the League, Silas wasn't particularly anxious about that.

All it really took was heading to a city, challenging the Gym, and moving on. Factoring in travel, appointments, and rest, each Gym could be cleared in three to four days. If things went smoothly, he could collect the remaining seven badges within a month.

Previously, he had thought about staying in each city for a while to take on missions and make money. But now that he could both train and earn here, missing out on a few badges wasn't a big deal at all.

As Silas thought about his plan for the coming month, he continued cleaning Pidgeot's body.

Just like him, the surrounding Trainers were all meticulously tending to their own Pokémon.

There were certainly plenty of bad people in the Pokémon world, but even those who committed the worst acts often showed deep care for their Pokémon.

Any negative behavior or words directed toward Pokémon were generally unacceptable, which was why Reggie's comment on the ship the other day had been so quickly shut down despite the fact that what he said reflected a certain harsh reality.

In a way, the people of this world were incredibly lovable.

Busy as he was, Silas smiled. He'd grown used to this place over time and was genuinely happy to be here. Although it differed from the world he remembered in his previous life, this one felt much more vivid and real.

Still, he sometimes found himself reminiscing about the past.

As he continued grooming, Pidgeot let out a comfortable cry, instinctively rubbing its large head against Silas's chest.

Silas casually stroked the beautiful crest feathers atop its head smooth and pleasant to the touch— efore gently pushing it away.

"Cut it out. We're still in the middle of something," he warned with a glance.

Pidgeot immediately lowered itself obediently to the ground.

After a while, Silas clapped his hands and let out a soft sigh. Finally done. Grooming really was a labor-intensive task.

It wasn't just about drying the feathers—otherwise, Pidgeot could've just used Heat Wave to dry itself off. It involved careful maintenance.

For example, checking the density of feathers on both wings to see if they required manual trimming, or inspecting claw length and sharpness to ensure they met his battle preferences. Every detail had to be taken into account.

Keeping a Pokémon's body clean was essential not only for their health but also for building trust and bonds between Trainer and Pokémon through this process.

Of course, this wasn't something that had to be done daily. Most of the time, the care work was divided and scheduled periodically. Silas had simply moved up today's maintenance session.

Pidgeot's size wasn't too bad, but the Trainer beside him with a Gyarados was still struggling halfway through its grooming, looking thoroughly worn out.

Seeing that Trainer's sweat-drenched expression, Silas could already imagine himself cleaning up a future Coalossal or even larger Pokémon someday.

He gave a silent grin and walked off after recalling Pidgeot.

If I don't see it, I won't have to imagine it. I'll deal with it when the time comes. Escapism might be shameful, but for now, it's useful.

He still had to go back and prepare dinner for his three Pokémon. He couldn't let them go hungry.

Yes, that was absolutely why he was leaving not to avoid reality.

The Gyarados Trainer happened to glance up and noticed Silas walking away in a hurry. He'd wanted to strike up a conversation, but now the guy was already gone.
