I can't remember exactly when I started feeling this way. But I had grown to intensely hate being ordinary, being normal. I developed a strong sense of disgust towards my mediocre self. Lacking personality, gradually being absorbed into the background like those around me. So I decided to change myself. That's why I wanted to go to the dungeons that have been causing such a stir in society recently. I thought that if I went there, something might change...

Dungeon I Want to Be Extraordinary

Guided by the lady, I'm led inside a partitioned area. I've done my preliminary research, so I know what's behind this partition is a rare item for identification. Still, I'm nervous - is it because this will determine my future, or because I'm a young boy?

Both seem possible, and I can't definitively say.

The lady hands me the item and explains how to use it. It's simple - just hold it and look through the monocle towards my own body.

Knowing this single-lens monocle is incredibly expensive, I can't stop my hand from trembling when I receive it.

"I understand you're nervous, but please calm down. Deep breathing helps. I did the same during my first time," the lady says gently.

Her words help me relax. And, since I'm here, I'll do some deep breathing too.

Though I think it was more her reassuring voice that calmed me down. I'll keep that to myself out of embarrassment.

Since I haven't defeated any monsters, my Level is 0. Martial Arts seem like special moves that are learned when leveling up, so it's normal to have none. Same goes for magic.

These stats represent all of my current abilities.

My dexterity stands out, being twice as high as the others. All other stats are flat at 9. I don't think these numbers are particularly high. I've heard people who have worked hard before me have higher initial stats. I've also heard that those who have leveled up are unbeatable.

Someday, I'll make those people gasp in surprise.
