Chapter 13: Rising Pressure

Spring Vile Street – Simon vs. Chronly

Simon stood calm and collected despite the poison coursing through his veins.

Blood trickled down his shoulder.

His body felt ten times heavier.

But his mind was sharp.

That knife…

It wasn't normal.

It seemed like it hit him straight on, but in reality—

He dodged it over 30 times.

Every time he evaded, parried, or deflected—

It still landed.

Like it refused to miss.

A cursed weapon? Some tracking ability?

Simon didn't know, but one thing was clear—

Chronly wasn't here to chit-chat.

If Simon were at full power, he could probably wipe out this entire block with a flick of his wrist.

But the casualties…

He had to fight carefully.

As he calculated his next move, Chronly smirked.

"What's wrong, Sheep of a King? Looking a little dizzy there."

Simon exhaled slowly. "Your rank. What is it?"

Chronly adjusted his shades.

Then, with a grin—

"K-9."

Simon's eyes narrowed.

That was three full ranks above him.

He was Z-10 when he started.

Simon was M-2.

Now, Chronly was K-9.

This guy was a monster.

But Simon didn't flinch.

He simply cracked his knuckles.

"Tch. Still a single-digit rank? That's pathetic."

Chronly burst out laughing.

"You're cocky as ever, huh? But let's see if you can still back it up."

Simon charged in.

His fist shot forward—a clean jab aimed at Chronly's jaw.

Chronly tilted his head slightly.

Just a millimeter.

Simon's fist barely grazed his cheek.

He was fast.

Simon didn't stop—he followed with a low kick.

Chronly jumped.

Simon went for a spinning back kick.

Chronly ducked.

But the moment he moved—Simon twisted his foot midair, switching directions—

CRACK!

Chronly barely blocked in time, but the impact sent him skidding back.

He grinned.

"Not bad, Mr M-2. "

Simon wasn't smiling.

This guy was sneaky.

Every move he dodged, he barely moved.

Like he knew exactly how much effort to use without wasting motion.

This was going to be tricky.

The Bottom of the Ocean – Katsu's Discovery

Deep beneath the crushing ocean, Katsu swam through the abyss.

Still no sign of the golden chest.

Damn it… Where is it?!

His flames were burning out.

He could only maintain his pressure resistance for so long.

Then—

Something floated past him.

A glass bottle.

Inside—

A map.

Katsu's eyes widened.

This could be important later.

He snatched it up and stuffed it into his pocket.

Then, after what felt like an eternity…

There it was.

The golden chest.

Resting on the ocean floor, glistening.

Katsu grinned.

"Finally."

He grabbed it with both hands—

Then paused.

Wait.

How was he supposed to get back up?

He tried swimming.

But—

His speed was way too slow.

His flames were running out.

If he tried to swim normally, he'd be dead before he reached the surface.

Think. Think. THINK!

Then—an idea.

The bulb fish.

He saw them earlier.

Maybe he could ride one up.

But how the hell was he supposed to control a fish?!

His flames wouldn't work underwater, and he had nothing to tame it with.

His mind raced.

Wait… what if—

What if he didn't swim?

What if he blasted himself up?

Katsu's eyes burned with excitement.

"Heh. This might be stupid. But it's worth a shot."

He tightened his grip on the golden chest—

And prepared for the biggest launch of his life.

To be continue….
