Chapter 023: Captured

The moment Cyrus Greene saw the security guard's body, the first thought that flashed through his mind was to immediately reverse the car. But he instantly realized that if he backed up, the thin car body would not be able to stop the penetrating power of bullets.

The scenario where a car door can block bullets only appears in low-quality, bad movies and TV shows. If bullets didn't have this much power, firearms designers throughout hundreds of years of human history might as well have hanged themselves.

Since he couldn't retreat, he could only charge forward!

Cyrus Greene's car was already moving fast, and he accelerated again as he reached the parking garage exit. By now, two kidnapper gunmen had jumped out from behind the guard booth, their assault rifles firing fiercely at him. Ducking to avoid them, instead of directly crashing through the parking lot barrier to escape, he drove straight into the guard booth.

With a bang, the aluminum-framed booth with glass doors and windows instantly shattered and collapsed. Flying glass fragments made people instinctively dodge, and the two gunmen shooting from behind the booth had to continuously back away.

Here was the opportunity—now he could break out!

Cyrus Greene reversed to straighten the car, then accelerated forward again to charge out. Just at that moment, an armored pickup truck similar to a cash transport vehicle drove in from outside the parking garage, directly ramming into Cyrus Greene's car.

Bang! The two vehicles collided!

Cyrus Greene felt a tightness in his chest and sharp pain throughout his body from this fierce impact. The airbag in front of him deployed with a bang, hitting his nose and mouth as if he'd taken a heavy punch, leaving his face covered in blood.

Damn it, it's the kidnappers' Ford pickup!

Cyrus Greene tore away the airbag and saw the driver of the Ford pickup leaning out of the window, aiming a handgun at him and repeatedly pulling the trigger.

The sound of gunfire was continuous, sending fragments flying from the already broken BMW windshield. Cyrus Greene was pinned down in his seat, unable to raise his head. He could only reverse the car, driving backward frantically.

The friction between the car and the ground made a piercing screeching sound, but at least it allowed Cyrus Greene to distance himself from the enemy. Using the rearview mirror, he turned around a bend, and then the BMW crashed into the wall of the curve with a bang.

Cyrus Greene crawled out of the car, hunched over, and looked back at the doctor who had been in the car with him. That unfortunate man was already sitting in the passenger seat, as dead as could be. As he crept away, Cyrus Greene grumbled, "Why did you have to come with me? You ended up losing your life."

Meanwhile, Lina Fox was following her bodyguard, quickly heading to the underground parking garage via the hospital's emergency staircase. However, after descending two floors, she suddenly exclaimed "ouch" and crouched down, her face contorted in pain as she said, "I've twisted my ankle. It hurts, it hurts."

Bodyguard Raji, who had been pulling his employer to escape, immediately said when he saw his employer crouch down, "Try to bear it. We must quickly get to the parking garage. Let me carry you on my back."

But as bodyguard Raji bent down, Lina Fox, who had been crouching, suddenly raised her head with a pepper spray in her hand and sprayed it fiercely in her bodyguard's face.

With a hiss... bodyguard Raji was caught off guard and immediately covered his eyes, screaming in pain. He stood up and tried to point his gun at Lina Fox, but unexpectedly, this wealthy young lady stood up and kicked his wrist joint, causing the gun to fall to the ground.

"You bitch, what are you doing?" Bodyguard Raji instantly went berserk. He quickly pulled out a dagger from under his rib and struggled to open his eyes, trying to grab Lina Fox. But his eyes, nostrils, throat, and skin were all burning with pain, making it difficult for him to continue.

Lina Fox tried to pick up the gun but was forced to retreat repeatedly by Raji's wildly waving dagger. She coldly demanded, "Raji, why did you betray me?"

"How did I betray you? I'm your bodyguard, and I'm escorting you away from this hellish place." Bodyguard Raji was going crazy from the pepper spray. He tried to wipe his face with his sleeve, but it only made it more painful and uncomfortable. Eventually, he could only continue to shout and yell.

"Don't take me for a fool." Lina Fox, assessing that she couldn't contend with Raji, immediately stopped talking and turned to run. She didn't head toward the underground parking garage but instead climbed the stairs upward.

Bodyguard Raji heard the sound of Lina Fox's high heels rapidly moving away and could only stand in place shouting, "Miss Fox, don't go! I'm your bodyguard; you must trust me. Come back here!"

But Lina Fox, with a gloomy expression, didn't look back. After climbing several flights of stairs, she quietly pushed open the fire door and peeked out, returning to one of the hospital floors. The medical staff on this floor had already vanished without a trace. Occasionally, a few patients would run by, all panicked like frightened rabbits.

Lina Fox walked briskly while observing the surroundings. She took out a phone from her handbag and quickly dialed 911. When the call connected, the operator's voice came through, "This is the New York Police Department..."

"I need to report an emergency. My name is Lina Fox, CEO of Fox Consortium. I'm at Downtown Manhattan Hospital. A group of kidnappers is trying to capture me, and my bodyguard Raji has betrayed me. There are already multiple casualties at the scene. Please send police immediately; I need help."

Although she tried to control her emotions, Lina Fox couldn't help but become a bit flustered toward the end. She had completely fallen into an isolated and helpless situation with no one to help her. As the police operator was formally asking her to remain calm and wait for rescue, she suddenly froze.

Several armed kidnappers appeared in front of Lina Fox, their eyes cold as they stared at her like a poor prey. Seeing the gun barrels pointed at her, she wisely raised her hands and said, "If you want money, I can satisfy your demands. Please don't hurt me; it wouldn't be beneficial for either of us."

The leader of the kidnappers walked up to Lina Fox with a laugh, took the phone from her hand, and said to the police operator, "Miss Fox doesn't need your help anymore. She's now in my hands like a little chicken."

After finishing the conversation, the kidnapper leader forcefully squeezed the phone, crushing it with a crack. He smiled smugly and said, "Very pleased to meet you, Miss Fox, worth fifty billion dollars. I've always looked forward to associating with high-class people like you, and today I've finally got my wish."

The kidnapper leader smiled as he gently stroked Lina Fox's face and twirled her hair with his fingers, irritating the young lady, who angrily tossed her head, freeing herself from his grasp.

Lina Fox's fiery temperament only made the kidnapper leader more pleased. He moved his face closer to the lady's ear and said in a lecherous tone, "I know you're angry. A socialite like you must look down on a rough guy like me. But that's okay. We can become good friends, as long as you cooperate a little bit. You'll find I'm a very easy person to get along with."

The kidnapper leader's laughter made Lina Fox extremely disgusted. At this moment, bodyguard Raji, who had just been sprayed with pepper spray, caught up from behind. His face and hands were bright red, looking like a boiled lobster.

Raji walked up to Lina Fox and, without hesitation, slapped her across the face. After the sound of the slap, he viciously pressed close to his former employer and demanded, "You bitch, how did you discover I was a problem?"
