9- HE IS NOT A ROGUE!

LYRA'S POV

My scream. I swallow it deep down my throat because I know Lyriq will do it if I don't control my emotions.

For the first time, I see a small smile peek by the corner of his lips. He brings the barrel of the gun to my throat and draws it up to my jaw.

I clench my fists, shut my eyes, and pray that nothing happens to Cas.

" Good girl," He says to me and goes silent for five seconds. " You have no idea how I want to shoot you right now."

I want to scream at him to do it. I want to say that I'm not scared of dying.

" Please…" My voice hangs for a moment. I open my eyes and look into his grey venomous ones. " Don't hurt him."

Confusion and amusement flash in his eyes. He looks at Cas, whose face is pressed against the ground by Henry and the male who was holding me back moments ago.

Lyriq looks at me. " Hm, I see. You and him? Pathetic plus even more pathetic. A match made in hell."

I almost say something but I remember a gun is right under my jaw.

Spontaneously, something hits me. The wolves? Lawrence? They should have been back by now. They should have seen Lyriq coming.

Fear rushes down my veins when realize I don't hear the sound of them in the lake.

" Lyra," Cas groans as he struggles to raise his head, but Henry powerfully shoves his head back into the soil, and something goes off in me.

I push the gun from me and want to run to Cas but Lyriq grabs my arm and pulls me back. And because he's too strong, my back ends up getting pressed to his body and the gun is on my neck.

" You are making things difficult—

" Get the hell away from me!" I scream and choke at the same time.

" I have no business in getting close to you," He snaps and grabs me by the shoulder and spins me till I'm facing him and the gun is on my forehead. He is shouting now. " I came here to take this fucking rouge and you are getting in the way—

" He is not a rouge—"

" Shut up!"

A gunshot and I am steel. I stare at him with wide eyes as he holds the gun in the air.

" What did you do to them?" I managed to say. I manage to breathe.

" Why don't you go to the lake and find out?" He hisses and moves away from me. He looks at Cas, bends over, takes out the syringe filled with something green, and injects it into Cas's neck.

Cas stops struggling and Henry lets go of him. He is lying on the soil, unconscious and I'm still trying to process why my legs cannot move.

" Lift him up and take him to the car." He says to Henry. " I'll clean up the mess by the lake."

Henry flashes an eye at me. " And what about her?"

Lyriq says nothing for an excruciating amount of time. " Kymon will find out what to do with her."

And in a minute they are gone.

I just stand here, wondering what to do.

Kymon is behind this. He is the reason seven innocent wolves are dead and Cas has been taken away. I don't want to imagine what they'd do to him.

What if they kill him like they did to Bryn? I shake my head. Clean my tears.

No, no. I can't. I just can't lose him. No, no… goddess no, please not Cas.

My feet are working again. I run through the forest and shift into my wolf. I spot Henry in the front seat of a black Highlander, and I follow it, making sure he doesn't notice me.

A few minutes later, the car stops by the large black-painted gate to Kymon's mansion. Cas's mother is standing by the gate, crying and begging.

The Highlander honks multiple times, and I can tell that if Cas's mother doesn't leave the gate, Henry won't run her over.

I shift back into my human form and run to her, pulling her back as Henry is about to run her over. She tries to break away from my grip but I try everything possible not to let her go.

When the gates are closed, I let her go.

She grabs my shirt and looks up at me with cloudy eyes. " Lyra, Alpha— he said Caspian is behind Bryn's death. He wants to execute him."

Horror. Horror. Horror.

I nearly tumble over. I run to the gate and hit it hard, shouting. Shouting things I think could kill me.

" I need to see Kymon!" I shout. " I need to freaking see that tyrant Alpha." " Open this damn gate."

Bedroom lights begin to turn on. I hear noises from inside. A male voice yelled. Footsteps. Footsteps. I don't stop shouting till Zade's uncle, Jillian, is in front of me dressed in a nightgown with his eyes screaming with anger. When he sees me, his expression morphs into confusion.

" Lyra?" He sounds confounded. " What is wrong?"

" I need to see Kymon!"

" Kymon isn't someone you can just demand for his presence. He is your Alpha."

I want to spit on that word. I want to tell Jillian I don't see Kymon as an Alpha but a demon, but I don't have the chance to when six feet, green eyes, blue eyes wearing glasses, clad in a navy blue sweatshirt, and black pants appear next to Jillian.

Zade.

His eyes lock with mine, and his lips instantly pump into a smile. " Come crawling back my love?"
