KYMON'S POV
I watch her disappear into the darkness, each step echoing louder than it should. For someone so small, Lyra leaves chaos in her wake—storming out like that, eyes wild with betrayal, voice cracking under the weight of everything I just dropped on her.
I shouldn't care.
I don't care.
But my damn heart clenches anyway.
I turn away from the gate, digging my nails into my palm. The sting helps. It reminds me I'm still in control. That I'm not some lovesick fool chasing after emotions I buried the night Freya died.
And yet, I chased after her.
I ran after Lyra Reyes like some guard dog desperate to prove his loyalty. Why? Because she's an asset?
Liar.
