Ch1 - The Depressed Extra

I had just gotten off the phone with my mother.

We had a relatively lighthearted conversation,

she had asked about how my career was going and how life has been.

Of course, I couldn't just reply with "shitty" even if it was what I was thinking.

She was the one who wanted me to become a lawyer, I was just doing what I was told.

I hated the job, I hated people, I hate these idiots who come into my office with a smug grin on their face.

Even with all those thoughts I couldn't abandon the job. In the end all I could think was,

'It's my fault, it's my ignorance that led me here. I know in the past if I spoke up it could have changed.'

There were so many aspects about my life that I despised, that I regret.

I rushed into relationships with no second thought.

'I didn't even love most of those girls. Sure, I liked them, but to me they were just the same as everybody else. And the one I did love? She utterly abandoned me.'

I reached into my pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes.

I looked around, this entire time I had been in my kitchen.

I was supposed to eat, but my appetite has long been lost.

My tired dead eyes weren't just for show as I slowly walked towards the backdoor.

"Isn't it pathetic? All I have to talk with is the night sky. Man, I've been really wasting away. Yet I've even given up on myself."

"Really?"

'Another hallucination, I wonder who'll visit me this time.'

I looked towards the incoming voice.

A man with fierce eyes much unlike mine looked up at me.

His eyes were a deep red and his hair was a grayish black.

"Are you really just going to let yourself waste away?"

"Are you really just going to keep living this exhausting existence?"

"You really are pathetic. Fight! Fight for once in your life for change. Please for us for me. Fight for us."

At his words I could only let out an exasperated sigh.

"I have fought. I've given it my all. I've tried to and every time I've failed to escape."

"Then try again?"

"I'm tired. Can't I just rest?"

"No"

'Truly how difficult.'

I instinctively caught something he had thrown at me.

'A wooden katana? What is this even doing here?'

I looked back up at the man and he held the very same sword in his hands.

"If you won't fight then I guess I'll shove you to center stage myself."

He lunged at me swinging down his blade:

I instinctively blocked it, but I could feel his strength weighing down on me.

That wasn't it as he quickly aimed his blade towards my side.

A loud thud resounded as my wooden sword fell to the floor. I simply didn't have enough strength to block it in that position.

"Pick it up."

Even though I heard his command I just sat there

staring at the fallen sword.

I just didn't have the will nor the energy to pick it up.

"How long will you just sit there and watch? Watch how your fate gets chosen for you. How she left you with no remorse: how you were forced into burdens you never wanted."

He pointed his blade at me once again.

My eyes met his, his deep piercing red eyes didn't waver.

"Promise to me, promise to us. That this is the last time someone either than you will decide your fate."

I didn't really know why I said what I said next, but

"I promise to you that I'll fight."

"Alright then I have no complaints about what happens next."

"What's going to happen next?"

"Just close your eyes, you probably won't even remember this conversation."

I looked at him with utter confusion.

'What is he even talking about?'

"Well then it's your time to save the world that saved you."
