Ch12 - Terror of The Academy

Author's note:

I feel like the quality of the chapters isn't up to my own personal standard so once I can get a quality, I like consistently per chapter then I'll go back and edit some previous chapters.

"Hey kid, they need you for the opening ceremony."

Alexander stood next to the door while gesturing towards the outside.

"Alright, so where do I go?"

"Just follow me."

Alexander led me across the academy to the opening ceremony.

The academy was a mix of modern and medieval, there were large, lush forests. One even had a lake, the technology was state of the art, but it still kept a somewhat classical feeling.

"The academy's quite beautiful, huh?"

"Yeah, it is..."

Alexander came to a sudden stop; I could see rows of people standing as I looked out in front of the stage.

"We're here just up there is the stage."

I nodded and Alexander walked off to the area the teacher's sat.

"Ah okay then."

I still felt nervous speaking in front of that many people, but I slowly made my way to the center of the stage.

'Do I really have to do this?'

"Uh hello, I'm Sen Karum, the rank 1 among you. While I'm not a student representative or anything like that. I wish for all of us to have a good time moving forward."

That was it, I didn't feel like talking any more than that.

I had gotten rank 1 because the number of fighters didn't work out, so they had to go off the three initial matches.

However, due to my uh lacking reputation, I wasn't chosen as a student representative for my grade.

After my speech, they acknowledged both student representatives of our grade.

'Luckily that stayed the same.'

I could only sigh in relief as both Astria and Koen went up on stage.

Then came the principal, Novius Starlium. He had those same galaxy-like eyes as Astria, but he had pure white hair that he inherited from his mother.

Astria and Novius though had the same father, didn't have the same mother. Novius hailed from the former princess of the empire, so his full name was technically Novius Von Starlium.

'The strongest character in the entirety of the novel. His unique skill is by far the most broken out of any character, [0]. The only one-character unique skill.'

"Hey, I'm Novius Starlium, some call me Novius Von Starlium or well the principal. I'll be overlooking the academy till you graduate. So, uh get strong and yeah that's about it."

'The exact same uncaring speech from the novel. I mean what did he even have to care about?'

After the speech, we were all sent our different ways, but most went to check the class assignment board.

Of course, everyone in the diamond section was put into Class S, but the most shocking part was the test results.

[Physical Aptitude Test]

Lukas Valen - 1580

Koen Levensky - 1394

Sen Karum - 1348

[Mana Control Test]

Sen Karum - 1600

Astria Starlium - 1587

Cecilia Von Windshire - 1560

In only two tests I was in the top 3, but that in itself is an achievement.

'I guess my unique skill is really a cheat even if I ranked quite low in the mana amount rankings.'

Everyone left for their dorm rooms, which were split by class. So, I soon followed suit and attempted to find mine's.

'The novel described it being next to this tall uh tower-like kinda thing.'

I walked around looking for the dormitory until I saw a tower-like building and walked towards it.

'There's nothing here.'

That continued for around a half hour in which I walked around aimlessly. Eventually, I wasn't even in the academy anymore. I don't know how I even got out without going through the front gate.

I fidgeted with the watch thing they gave me and bought food that looked good but still had no luck in finding the dormitories.

Eventually, I wasn't even in the academy anymore. I don't know how I even got out without going through the front gate.

"Hey, don't make this harder on yourself and just hand it over."

A couple of bandits were picking on a nearby stand and my instinctual reaction

was to turn around and walk away.

'Really not any of my business.'

A whizzing sound ran through the air and for a moment I saw a speck of bright blue. A black blur dashed past me towards the stand.

"Kid why don't you scram like that kid over there."

The person confronted the bandit drawing his sword and from just a glance I knew who it was. Koen Levensky, his ocean-like eyes showed no malice, and his deep black hair flowed with the wind.

I looked towards the cowardly kid that the bandit was referring to.

It was me?

I just sat there blankly looking at his extended finger. Koen seemed to be on even more edge seeing me standing there.

"Hey, isn't that the Terror of The Academy?"

I could hear the murmuring of the crowd as all eyes were focused on me.

And one of the minions of the big guy standing in front of Koen whispered in his ear.

"Huh? You're the kid that decimated the princess? Look here I don't want any trouble just leave me out of this."

And just like that the bandits had walked away, and the crowd was still completely focused on me.

Yet I just continuously stood there not saying a single word as they continued to murmur among themselves.

Suddenly, Koen rushed at me, I thought he was about to attack me, but he grabbed me by the wrist and started bolting away from the crowd.

"You looked nervous at the speech. Fear of crowds?"

He looked back at me with those cerulean eyes and a smile as warm as the sun.

"Koen... You really are amazing."

I muttered, but clearly not soft enough as Koen let out a chuckle.

"Haha, not really."

'I know why I fell in love with the story, with the characters, with the world.'

Seeing Koen smiling as he showed compassion in any situation, standing as a figure for people to look towards.

It made me really really

jealous.

Back then I always asked myself, "Why couldn't I be like that," surrounded by a found family with people leaning on my back for support.

Smiling in the toughest situations and cutting through the darkness with a single sword.

The night was beautiful, there were lights and stands shining with life. Laughter erupted among the common folk, but I wasn't focused on that.

Instead, I just looked blankly forward at a certain black-haired boy dashing through the crowds running as I followed behind.

Sorry the chapter took so long and is still short. Things are happening IRL so the chapters might slow down for a little bit.
