The First Trial

Jian Mu stepped through the towering gates of the Heavenly Demon Academy, joining the crowd of new disciples gathered in the courtyard. There were hundreds upon hundreds of disciples all belonging to clans far greater then his. All eager, all hungry. Yet only a handful would be chosen.

The air was thick with tension.

In front of them stood a raised platform, where three figures observed them with sharp, calculating gazes.

The Instructors of the Academy.

The first was a towering man with a scar running down his left eye, dressed in simple yet imposing black robes. His aura alone was suffocating. Instructor Han, the Combat Master, known for breaking students who didn't meet his expectations.

Beside him was a young woman in crimson robes, her presence cold and detached. Instructor Mei, the Strategy and Internal Cultivation Master, rumored to be as ruthless with her lessons as she was in battle.

The last was an elderly man, dressed in deep violet, his gaze filled with quiet menace. Elder Bai, the overseer of the entrance exam. His word was final.

Elder Bai stepped forward, his voice cutting through the murmurs.

"The Heavenly Demon Academy does not accept the weak! This is not a place for cowards or fools who think talent alone will carry them!" His gaze swept over them like a blade. "If you wish to enter, you must earn your place. If you fail, you leave—or you die."

Some disciples stiffened. Others grinned, eager for bloodshed.

Jian Mu remained still. He already knew—this was a battlefield, nothing more.

"The entrance exam will be divided into three trials," Elder Bai continued. "The first will begin now."

With a flick of his wrist, a massive stone gate behind him rumbled open, revealing a huge forest with wooden weapons, dummies, and an arena drenched in old bloodstains.

"The first trial is simple." Instructor Han's voice was like gravel grinding against steel. You must collect 1 golden talesmans before sun rise. They are 200 of them here and last of all, Survive!"

A low growl echoed from within the training ground. Dozens of caged beasts stood in the distance, their eyes glowing with hunger.

"Collect a Talesmans and prove your worth. If you cannot fight, you do not belong here."

Jian Mu's heart pounded.

He had no martial arts experience. No sword techniques. No training.

Yet he had no choice.

As the cages were unlocked, chaos erupted.

The trial had begun.
