Awakening A New

Pain. Fading.

Jian Mu's eyes snapped open, his breath sharp as the sterile scent of the infirmary filled his lungs. The ceiling above was familiar—but the searing agony from before was gone. He blinked, pushing himself upright. His body felt… light. Too light.

He pulled the sheets back and stared at his hands—no bruises, no cuts. Every wound from the trial had vanished. Even the deep gash across his ribs was nothing more than a faint scar.

"What the hell…?" His voice was steady, but his heart pounded.

He swung his legs over the edge of the bed, flexing his fingers. There was no pain, no lingering ache. If anything, his body felt stronger—more attuned. But it wasn't just that. There was something else… something lurking beneath the surface.

Closing his eyes, he focused inward.

And there it was.

A pulse of darkness, faint but undeniable. It slithered beneath his skin—cold, heavy, and unyielding. For the first time, he could feel the dark yang qi. It was no longer some foreign force beyond his reach—it was his.

Jian Mu exhaled slowly. His body trembled as he pulled on the qi. It responded immediately, rising like black smoke curling through his veins. His fingers tingled as a faint aura—barely visible—coiled around them.

He clenched his fist, and the energy flared before fading back into silence. It wasn't much, but it was real.

'I can control it now. Finally after so long...' He let out a sigh of relief knowing that in the end he had finally gained a bit of power and understood why he could never cultivate no matter how much he tried.

And yet… the voice was gone. The ever-present whisper of the demon had vanished. For the first time since the trial began, his mind was silent.

A part of him should've felt relieved—but instead, there was an emptiness. As if something important had been torn away.

He shook the thought aside. The voice would return—he knew it. And when it did, he would be ready.

For now, he had power. And power was all that mattered.

In the Instructor's Chamber…

Three figures stood within the shadowed hall. The air was thick with tension, the crimson glow of the scrying lightff flickering between them.

Instructor Bai leaned against the wall, arms crossed. His eyes burned with curiosity. "He's changed."

Instructor Han stood across from him, the lines on his face etched deeper in thought. "I expected him to break," he murmured. "Yet, here he is—intact."

The cold-eyed female instructor remained silent, her expression unreadable. But her gaze lingered.

"It's no coincidence," Bai said. "The qi within him—it isn't natural."

Instructors Han's lips curled faintly. "No, and if my suspicions are correct, it may be something far more dangerous."

The female instructor finally spoke, her tone as sharp as a blade. "Should we be worried?"

Elder Bai chuckled softly. "Worried? No. Interested? Absolutely." His smile faded. "But if he loses control…"

"We'll make sure he doesn't," instructor Han interrupted. "For now, let him grow. Whatever is inside him—whether it becomes a weapon or a disaster—we'll find out soon enough."

"And the second trial?" Elder Bai asked.

A cruel smile spread across instructor Han's face. "Let's see how far his new power can take him."

Back in the Infirmary…

Jian Mu stood, stretching his limbs. Every movement felt sharper—faster. Whatever the figure had done to him… it was only the beginning.

He would survive the next trial. No—he would dominate it.

And if anyone stood in his way?

He would tear them apart.
