chapter twenty-eight

Chairman David settled into the back seat of his luxurious car, his eyes fixed on the passing scenery outside the window. He had instructed his driver to take him to the heart of the city, where his campaigning partner was hosting a rally.

As they approached the venue, Chairman David's gaze fell upon a sea of people, all clamoring for attention and free gifts. His campaigning partner, a charismatic individual with a flair for drama, was standing atop a makeshift stage, microphone in hand.

Chairman David's eyes narrowed as he watched his partner distribute free food and gifts to the crowd. It was a tactic he had seen before, one that often yielded short-term results but rarely led to long-term success.

The car pulled up alongside the stage, and Chairman David stepped out, his eyes locked on his campaigning partner. The man caught his gaze and smiled, beckoning him over.

"Ah, Chairman David!" he exclaimed, extending a hand. "I'm so glad you could make it."

Chairman David's expression remained skeptical as he shook his partner's hand. "I see you're pulling out all the stops," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

His partner chuckled. "Hey, whatever it takes to win the hearts and minds of the people, right?"

Chairman David raised an eyebrow. "You really think all this will bribe them into voting for you?"

His partner shrugged. "At least I'm making an attempt. I know giving them these gifts will soften their hearts."

Chairman David laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "If you say so," he said. "We shall see."

His competitor, a tall, imposing figure with a stern expression, appeared at his side. "Yes, we shall see," he echoed, his voice dripping with malice.

Chairman David's eyes locked onto his competitor's, a spark of tension igniting between them. It was clear that this was more than just a simple election – it was a battle for power, and only one man could emerge victorious.

As the crowd continued to cheer and chant, Chairman David's mind turned to the challenges ahead. He was not bothered,he had traded his life, and he knows all will work in his favour.

Chairman David's competitor, Honorable Ryder, hurled a low blow, just as the chairman was about to leave, bringing up the sensitive topic of Chairman David's daughter running away on her wedding day. Chairman David's eyes flashed with anger, and he retorted, "I bet you, all this you're doing is a waste of time, and I'll be the one to win in the end."

Honorable Ryder sneered, "What does that have to do with what I just said? Your daughter's scandal is all over the news. At least my daughter can't try something like that. Do you think people will vote for a man who forced his daughter into a loveless marriage for greed?"

Chairman David's face reddened with rage, but he bit back his words and stormed off, leaving Honorable Ryder smirking in triumph. It was clear that the election was going to get ugly, with personal attacks and scandals taking center stage.

Zamiel descended the stairs, his footsteps echoing through the cavernous space. He navigated the winding corridors, his eyes fixed on the door at the far end. The air grew thick with the scent of old wood and decay as he approached.

Reaching the door, zamiel grasped the rusty handle and pulled. The hinges creaked in protest, the sound like a dying breath. He stepped across the threshold, his eyes adjusting to the dim light within.

Before him stood a pedestal, upon which rested a black box adorned with strange symbols. Samuel's fingers trembled with anticipation as he reached for the lid. He opened it slowly, revealing the contents within.

A soft, ethereal glow emanated from the box, casting an otherworldly light on zamiel's face. He gazed upon the collection of lives he had amassed, each one a glowing, crystalline orb. His eyes narrowed as he calculated the total, his mind racing with the implications.

It wasn't enough. He still needed more to achieve his goal of becoming immortal.

As he stood there, lost in thought, his mind began to wander. He couldn't shake the memory of Elena, the beautiful young woman who had captured his attention. He had never seen anyone like her before, and he found himself inexplicably drawn to her.

But why? He was a devil, a being devoid of human emotions. And yet, he couldn't deny the strange sensations that had been plaguing him since their first meeting.

He recalled the way Elena had offered to become his servant,in exchange for saving her from a loveless marriage. But he had been unable to resist her, and now she was living in his mansion, her presence a constant reminder of his growing obsession.

Zamiel's eyes snapped back into focus, his gaze falling upon the black box. He knew that he needed to continue collecting lives, but his mind kept drifting back to Elena. He sighed and closed the box..he needed to go to work.

*****************************

"Please, I promise I won't pass my boundary again," Elena pleaded, her tiny voice barely audible. "Please, I want to go home."

She was trapped inside the box, shrunk down to the size of a toy. Not even an ant could hear her faint cries for help.

"What do I do now?" Elena wailed, her tiny fists pounding against the box's interior. "How do I get out of here? How do I change this?"

Just as she seemed to be losing hope, Elena heard the sound of footsteps approaching. She quickly raised her head, her eyes scanning the box's lid for any sign of rescue.

As the box creaked open, Elena's tiny voice grew louder, more insistent. "Please let me out! I promise I promise I will be good!"

Suddenly, she felt a strange sensation wash over her, and she began to grow. Her body expanded, her limbs lengthening, until she was back to her normal size.

Elena stumbled out of the box, gasping with relief. She found herself in the same room where she had been shrunk, with Samuel standing over her, a cold expression on his face.

"I'm sorry," Elena said, bowing her head in contrition.

Zamiel's gaze lingered on her for a moment before he spoke. "Get lost," he said curtly.

Elena didn't need to be told twice. She hurriedly left the room, eager to escape Zamiel's wrath. As she disappeared into the hallway.
