For Elena, they had been apart for two days. But for Damian, it had only been a matter of hours.
Something suddenly came to her mind. "Oh, by the way, the company I was working for went bankrupt. It changed ownership overnight, and now there's a new boss."
Damian's gaze darkened slightly. "Maxwell Hart never had much foresight. His downfall was inevitable."
"It was still unexpected, though. I can't figure out why the Blackwell Group would acquire it," Elena said, confused. "The company doesn't generate much profit. It seems like a pointless investment."
Damian smirked. "The Blackwell Group isn't exactly strapped for cash."
Elena couldn't argue with that.
Then, as another thought struck her, her expression turned sour. "But I doubt I'll be able to keep my job for long. I already managed to offend the new big boss first thing this morning."
A flicker of amusement flashed in Damian's eyes.
