Chapter 6: Light vs Shadow

The Shadow Wolf snarled, its glowing red eyes locked on the group. Its sleek black fur rippled with tension, and the faint shimmer of darkness around its body hinted at its unnatural abilities. For a moment, the forest fell silent, the air thick with anticipation.

Kai's heart pounded in his chest as the system chimed in.

**[Tip: Shadow Wolves rely on stealth and speed. Use Glow's light to disrupt its hiding abilities and create openings for your other beasts to attack.]**

---

Kai's mind raced. This was a real fight—a dangerous one. A Shadow Wolf wasn't just some weak beast; it was fast, intelligent, and deadly. He glanced at his teammates. Reyna was glaring at the wolf, her Flame-Tail Lynx crouched low and ready to pounce. Jared stood silently, his massive beetle taking a defensive stance. Emma's fox-like beast, a **Frost Vulpine**, was growling softly, frost forming in the air around its fangs.

"Alright, team," Kai said quickly, his voice steady despite the tension. "This thing's fast and uses the shadows to its advantage. Glow's light can disrupt it—give us a clear shot."

Reyna scoffed. "Your little moth is going to save the day? Please."

Kai shot her a glare. "Do you have a better idea?"

Reyna opened her mouth but said nothing. Jared nodded slightly, his silent approval enough for Kai to continue.

"Here's the plan," Kai said, keeping his voice low. "Glow will light up the area to keep the wolf from disappearing. Tiny will take the front—its armor can handle the wolf's attacks. Stinger will strike from above with poison. Jared, your beetle can block its escape, and Emma, your frost fox can slow it down if it tries to run."

Emma grinned. "Sounds good to me. Let's see what that bug of yours can do."

Reyna rolled her eyes but reluctantly nodded. "Fine. Just don't get in my way."

---

The battle began in an instant.

The Shadow Wolf lunged forward, its movements a blur as it targeted Kai's group. Tiny stepped in, its massive armored body blocking the attack. The wolf's claws raked across Tiny's exoskeleton, but the Titan Ant barely flinched.

"Glow, now! Light up the area!" Kai shouted.

The **Luminous Silk Moth** unfurled its glowing wings, releasing a burst of golden light. The shadows around the wolf dissolved instantly, and the creature flinched, its red eyes narrowing in irritation.

"Stinger, *Poison Sting*! Tiny, *Mandible Strike*!"

Stinger buzzed high above the battlefield, launching a glowing green projectile that struck the Shadow Wolf's flank. The creature howled in pain as the poison began to take effect. Tiny followed up with a powerful lunge, its mandibles snapping shut on the wolf's leg.

"Nice work!" Kai called out. "Emma, slow it down!"

The **Frost Vulpine** darted forward, its icy breath freezing the ground beneath the wolf's feet. The Shadow Wolf growled, its movements becoming sluggish as frost formed on its fur.

"Flame-Tail Lynx, *Fire Dash*!" Reyna shouted.

Her lynx ignited, flames trailing behind it as it charged at the wolf. The fiery attack struck the creature head-on, sending it skidding across the ground.

The wolf staggered to its feet, breathing heavily. Its dark aura flickered weakly, and its glowing red eyes darted around, searching for an escape.

"Don't let it get away!" Kai yelled. "Jared, block it!"

Jared's beetle moved with surprising speed, positioning itself to cut off the wolf's retreat. The massive insect raised its armored body, its mandibles clicking threateningly.

The Shadow Wolf snarled, realizing it was cornered. It lunged desperately at Tiny, aiming to break through the group's defenses.

"Tiny, *Harden*! Hold your ground!"

Tiny's exoskeleton shimmered as the **Harden** skill activated, absorbing the wolf's attack. The Titan Ant didn't budge, its massive frame acting as an immovable wall.

"Now, finish it! Stinger, *Poison Sting*! Glow, blind it!"

Stinger launched another projectile, striking the wolf square in the chest. At the same time, Glow released a brilliant flash of light, disorienting the creature.

The Shadow Wolf staggered, its legs giving out beneath it. With one final growl, it collapsed to the ground, defeated.

---

The forest fell silent once more.

Kai let out a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding. "We did it," he said, a grin spreading across his face.

Reyna crossed her arms, clearly trying to hide her surprise. "Not bad, bug boy. I guess your plan wasn't completely useless."

Emma laughed. "That was awesome! Your ant is a tank, and that moth? Total game-changer."

Jared nodded silently, his beetle clicking its mandibles in approval.

The system chimed in, and a glowing interface appeared before Kai.
