Chapter 3

Once inside the elevator, Brentley looked at his right hand with a helpless expression. Although the feel of the beautiful woman's chest was quite pleasant, Brentley knew he had gotten himself into a big trouble.

But right now, he had no time to worry about that. He just wanted to figure out what was going on with the money!

Moments later, the elevator reached the twenty-seventh floor.

Brentley stepped out of the elevator and found that on the entire floor was a single office. The office was luxuriously decorated, and the location offered a stunning view of Sunshire City.

A middle-aged man in a black suit quickly stood up and walked over to Brentley as soon as he saw him.

ith a respectful tone, he said, "Young Master Carter, you're here!"

"Are you the one who called me earlier?" Brentley asked, frowning.

"Yes, Young Master Carter. Let me introduce myself. I'm James Griffin, the general manager of Convergence Group," Griffin said with a smile.

"Oh, I see," Brentley nodded slightly. As he looked around the office, he asked, "So, what's this inheritance you mentioned on the phone?"

"Young Master Carter, do you remember saving an old man with the last name Brown about ten years ago?" Griffin asked softly.

"An old man named Brown?" Brentley instinctively paused, then suddenly recalled that he had indeed saved an old man when he was younger. However, it had been so long ago that he couldn't remember the old man's last name.

"Young Master Carter, here's the situation. Mr. Gerald Brown was the chairman of Convergence Group. He passed away three days ago and left a will. Since he had no children or family, all his assets are to be inherited by you," Griffin explained slowly.

"I'm inheriting all of this by myself?"

Brentley was stunned when he heard Mr. Griffin say this. It felt like something that only happened in TV dramas.

"That's right. Let me give you a brief overview of Chairman Brown's estate. The publicly traded companies include Convergence Group in Sunshire City, Breeze Group, and Evergreen Pharmaceuticals Group..."

As he spoke, Mr. Griffin picked up a document from his desk and began explaining what Brentley would be inheriting.

At first, Brentley listened intently to Mr. Griffin's introduction, but soon, it all started to feel like a dream. He couldn't help but interrupt, frowning, "Wait a minute. Are you sure all of this is mine alone?"

"Absolutely!" Mr. Griffin nodded lightly, looking at Brentley

"And how much is all of this worth?" Brentley continued to ask.

"Well..." Mr. Griffin paused for a moment, then said softly, "Young Master Carter, my rough estimate would be over five trillion dollars."

"F-Five trillion? And in dollars..."

Brentley was instantly frozen in place, his face showing utter disbelief.

"Yes!"

Mr. Griffin nodded again, looking at Brentley."All of this... all of this money is mine?" Brentley shouted, feeling that everything happening to him was beyond comprehension. Five trillion dollars was about to become his, something he couldn't even dream of.

"That's correct!"

Mr. Griffin replied with a cheerful smile.

"That can't be right!" Brentley shook his head vigorously and continued, "You're definitely lying to me. Sure, I did save an old man once, but if he was really that rich, why have I never heard of him? Five trillion dollars? That would make him the richest person in the world!"

"Young Master Carter, you must be referring to the Forbes list?" Mr. Griffin responded with a faint smile.

"Yes, exactly that list. If he was really that wealthy, why isn't his name on it?" Brentley questioned.

"Young Master Carter, do you think someone of Chairman Brown's stature would choose to be on such a list?"

"What do you mean?" Brentley asked, puzzled.

"Let me explain it this way. The people you see on those lists are there mainly for fame. With fame, they can access better social resources. But Chairman Brown has long passed that stage; he doesn't want to overly expose his identity."

Mr. Griffin paused, then looked at Brentley and said, "Chairman Brown once said that the troubles of the rich are far greater than those of the poor. So, Young Master Carter, if you inherit this fortune, I would advise you not to reveal your identity. It would bring you no benefit."

Brentley looked at Mr. Griffin in front of him. He felt that Mr. Griffin wasn't lying. Even a con artist wouldn't bother with someone as broke as he was. Besides, the money in his bank account was real, and Mr. Griffin's office was extremely luxurious. How could a con artist afford such an office?

"What are the requirements for me to inherit this fortune?" Brentley asked, trying to suppress his excitement.

Mr. Griffin found a document on his desk and handed it to Brentley. "Young Master Carter, this is Chairman Brown's will. As long as you sign it, everything will be yours. But there's one thing you need to be aware of."

"What is it?" Brentley asked, taking the will from Mr. Griffin, his expression full of curiosity.

"Chairman Brown specifically mentioned in his will that if you want to inherit his estate, you must marry Miss Claire Harris. Otherwise, you won't be able to inherit anything," Mr. Griffin said slowly.

"Who is Claire Harris?" Brentley was taken aback. He hadn't expected such a peculiar condition for inheriting the estate. Money and a wife?

"According to the will, I am not allowed to disclose any information about Miss replied calmly.

"Is this Claire Harris some kind of ugly duckling?" Brentley asked, frowning.

"Young Master Carter, you really don't need to worry about Miss Harris's appearance. With today's advanced cosmetic technology, even if she were a pig, as long as you have the money, she could be turned into a beauty," Mr. Griffin said with a chuckle."You have a point there..." Brentley nodded slightly and then continued, "Alright, I agree to the terms of the will."

"If you have no further questions, you can sign here, and the will can take effect immediately," Mr. Griffin said, handing the will to Brentley.

Faced with such a substantial inheritance, Brentley couldn't refuse. Marrying a woman was a small price to pay. Heck, he might even agree to marry a pig if it meant getting the money, especially since he was in desperate need of it.

After signing the will, Mr. Griffin put it away and respectfully handed Brentley two cards.

"What are these?" Brentley asked, puzzled, as he looked at the cards in his hand.

"Young Master Carter, the first card is a black card from the Huaxia Bank. This card has no spending limit, meaning you can use it to spend millions or even billions without any issue. The second card is the Supreme Emperor Card from the Emperor Club, representing the highest social status. You can use this card to enjoy all the privileges at the Emperor Club," Mr. Griffin explained quickly.

Brentley wasn't particularly interested in the Emperor Club card since he had no idea what the Emperor Club was. However, the Huaxia Bank black card piqued his interest. He smiled at Mr. Griffin and asked, "Are you sure I can withdraw any amount of money with this card?"

"Absolutely certain. All expenses on this card are charged to your company's internal accounts, and since your company is valued at over five trillion dollars, any expense below that amount is perfectly fine!" Mr. Griffin explained softly.

"I never imagined there could be such an amazing credit card!" Brentley grinned, baring his teeth, already planning to test it out at the bank later.

"Oh, by the way, Young Master Carter, here's my business card. I usually handle your company's affairs, so if you ever run into any trouble, feel free to call me anytime!" Mr. Griffin handed Brentley his business card with great respect.

"Got it!" Brentley took the card and continued, "If there's nothing else, I'll be on my way."

"Let me see you out..." Mr. Griffin quickly offered.

"No need, I'll go myself!" Brentley waved his hand casually and then turned to leave Mr. Griffin's office.

A few minutes later, Brentley stepped out of the elevator.

"Clang!"

More than a dozen security guards immediately surrounded Brentley.

Seeing the security guards, Brentley was instantly dumbfounded and at a loss for what to do.

"You little pervert, finally caught you!"

The sexy woman whom Brentley had previously bumped into, stepped out from the crowd, crossing her arms and shouting arrogantly."Yeah, you filthy beggar! How dare you take advantage of our Manager Della? You must have a death wish! Look at yourself, you're a disgrace..." Wynter, the receptionist, chimed in loudly.

"I admit I was wrong before, and I've already apologized. What more do you want?" Brentley asked, frowning at the sexy woman in front of him.

"What do I want? Do you even realize how disgusted I was by you? Someone like you trying to take advantage of me? Do you even know who I am? Just thinking about what happened makes me sick!" The sexy woman shouted at Brentley with a tone full of disdain.

"Your disgust is your problem, not mine. Now, move aside. I need to leave!" Brentley was getting angry at her open insults, and his tone turned stiff.

"You want to leave?" The sexy woman sneered, pointing at Brentley. "You're not going anywhere until this matter is resolved!"

"And how do you propose to resolve it?" Brentley asked calmly, looking up at the sexy woman.

"You... you kneel down and apologize to me, then get out of this hall. Only then will I consider this matter settled. Otherwise, I'll have you sent straight to the police station!" The sexy woman shouted loudly.

"Yeah, kneel down and apologize to Manager Della!" The crowd around them quickly joined in, urging him on.

Brentley stood alone in the middle of the crowd, looking utterly helpless. He couldn't believe how far this woman was taking things. All because he had accidentally touched her chest, she now demanded that he kneels and apologize.

"What are you standing there for, kid? Get on your knees already!" The security guard shouted disdainfully.

Brentley turned his head to look at the guard, remaining silent. Though he was poor, it didn't mean he had no dignity!

"Della, what are you and these guards doing?" Suddenly, a roar came from behind Brentley. Everyone present froze upon hearing those words!
