'W-Where...?'
Rubbing her aching temple, Chaos the 'dead' child's body, looked around in puzzlement. The confusion was that apparent in her eyes.
Wasn't her destination hell according to the sermon about sinners from Father Samson?
'Who are they?' Her eyes saw that she wasn't alone.
However, there was one person who snatched her attention right from the first look. Unlike others who were clustered together on her left, he was seated alone on her right but not the kind that one would suspect intentional isolation.
Instinctively, Chaos could tell that he was someone of power from his demeanor alone. The quality of his dark strange clothes and his vibrant red eyes particularly, that caught her attention from the onset. She had never seen anyone with eyes that like that before. She could also see something swirling around him. It was dark yet faint, fading into thin air, but Chaos was certain that this thing was coming from this man.
'What in the world?' Her confusion deepened as her ears twitched at the sound of footsteps. Exactly what kind of hell did her spirit take her to?
''H-How….'' Her ears caught someone's stutter. Her eyes moved away from the strange scene to a young boy staring at her disbelief with mouth closing and opening up like a goby fish.
''H-How....How are you alive?!'' The boy exclaimed. In his opinion, he had used his aura on a weakling like her, and he was absolutely sure that she was dead like his mother had instructed him. How was she alive now?!
''…..'' Chaos paid no attention to the boy, whose voice was loud for her ear. Her goal right now was to find out what truly was going on around her. Her eyes shifted away from the goby fish boy and looked towards the other side. Her eyes regarded the wives and children of the grand duke that she had overlooked a moment ago. Some of them stared her with a stunned eyes, especially the fifth wife who couldn't control the stiff smile on her face..
'Is this a fashion show?' Chaos suddenly wondered for a moment. The sight of beauties and their pretty outfits was truly a view to behold. That strange man was something, but she hadn't expected that standard of beauty to be common in this weird hell.
'Hm?' Chaos sensed a glare when her gaze aligned with another. 'Have I offended her?' Her brows furrowed into deeper confusion. Perhaps this was the first time she would utterly confused in her entire life.
Chaos also noted the similar hair color of the goby fish boy and the woman. In her heart, she surmised that their relationship must be blood-related. There was also another woman that instinctively caught Chaos's attention.
She noticed the beauty of this woman seemed low and average compared to that of others. Her gown was somewhat plain, and the jewelry on her was hardly existent. Unlike the glaring woman by her side, she only met at her gaze blankly. Nothing could be seen in her eyes.
'Finish him.' Chaos read the mouthed words from the plain-looking woman, and for some reason, she felt a strange reaction coming from within her.
Something was telling her to avoid this woman. Like a small voices whispering to her to run away as fast possible. Her body felt compelled to disappear out of sight, not only from the plain-looking woman, but all in this strange kind of hell. It was the same with the strange good-looking man who caught her attention first moments ago, but the feeling of avoidance seemed stronger with the plain-looking woman.
However, that was funny.
Why should she run away?
She, the crazy and dangerous criminal, code named Chaos should run away from an unknown woman and strange members of this hell?
If Chaos hadn't felt a force coming towards her face, she would have probably laughed till she puked her lungs out.
*Whoosh!*
Out of instinct, Chaos caught the foot of the boy that was about to hit her face. Her fingers wrapped around the small ankle in her tight grasp.
Seriously, she has not spent up to some minutes before someone was trying to kill her.
''What are you doing?'' Chaos parted her lips to ask a question. Her eyes that previously held deep confusion, now stared at the boy with a deadly glint.
Should she kill him now?
She hadn't done anything to him but he came with the intention of ending her life. The ache on her palm obviously told her that. Should her palm be this sore from a child's kick?
No….wait. Ache? Sore? She was feeling this soreness and aches on her palm? The years of experience as an assassin had damaged her nerves according to her past health checkups, so how exactly was she feeling this ache in her palm?
Asides that, her voice seemed too strange. What was wrong with her voice?
Chaos froze as different thoughts surfaced in her mind. She was recalling how weird and different her voice sounded. It wasn't her gruff yet feminine voice anymore. This voice sounded a bit high-pitched and squeaky, like she was a child.
She hadn't visited the surgeon to change her voice before going to prison, so why.....
When Chaos realized that little detail, her eyes instinctively lowered the sight of her free hand.
Eeeekkkkkkk! Chaos stared at her strange hand in wonder.
Why was her hand so small and smooth? What happened to her beautiful scarred hands that told tales of her murders? These obviously were not her hands.
Chaos was pulled in a dilemma for a moment. She ruthlessly flung the foot in her grasp away like it was a piece of used tissue paper, and stared at her tiny hands in shock. Now, Chaos was now on her knees.
'Why do I feel….so out of strength?' Chaos felt more ache in the same hand that she used to throw the goby fish boy out of balance. Her body was not like this. Her body was obviously this small and defenseless.
What exactly is happening to her?
''How dare you!'' The voice of the goby fish boy attracted Chaos's gaze from her strange body, and she dazedly looked at the boy seated on the ground.
His gaze on her was definitely not good. Who would like someone who had flung them away? But Chaos's mind was not on him, rather engrossed on the strangeness around her and with her body.
The two children stare at each other for a moment. No…One was glaring, and other was staring at him in a daze. Before anything could happen, the sound of someone clapping attracted everyone's attention on the battle grounds.
Everyone stared at the middle-aged head butler, who adjusted his white gloves before overlapping his hands behind his back.
''His excellency wishes to withdraw from the succession battle.'' His voice echoed audibly on the battle grounds. ''The victor was assumed to be the fourth young master, but it seemed that hasn't been decided yet.'' Everyone could tell the sole perpetrator of the undecided victor.
From those words, Chaos could tell that she was currently fighting someone in a battle. Judging by how the goby fish boy wanted to end her life through his kick, she was confident about the guess. Anyway, it was good that she hadn't done anything yet because her confusion and cluelessness ran deep.
However, why was she in battle called a succession battle? Who was this boy? Why was her body this child-like? What happened to her destination of hell? If she was alive, what happened to her actual body then?
''....His excellency wishes everyone a good day.'' The voice of the head butler struck through Chaos's flood of thoughts. She also noted how the goby fish boy and others with them stood up with the intention of bowing to the strange man that was already walking away with a middle-aged man.
'I should copy their actions for now.' When Chaos wanted to stand up and act the same as the goby fish boy, her body felt wobbly and very light, as if the tension within has being released. 'Huh?'
Her feet staggered against each other before she lost control of her body.
'Not this feeling again…' Her vision became double just like the time she was about to die in the prison room. Before Chaos could say a word, her body dropped on the floor and her world eventually blacked out again.
